Job summary

PortXL is seeking a Data & Research Intern to help shape the future of maritime innovation. You will conduct research on technology trends, collect and clean data, and build dashboards that provide actionable insights for the team.

Join an international network and collaborate with partners like the Port of Rotterdam. The role offers a 5–7 month term with 32 hours per week preferred and compensation of €575 per month, with office presence minimum of 3 days per week.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in late stages of a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
• Sharp analytical mind with curiosity for turning messy data into insight.
• Comfortable with data tools like Excel, Python, R or Tableau.
• Detail-oriented and structured, able to see the bigger picture.
• Interest in maritime, energy, logistics or sustainability sectors.
• Excellent written and spoken English; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth research on maritime technology trends and innovation funding.
• Collect, clean and analyse structured and unstructured data from sources.
• Build and maintain data dashboards or reports for actionable insights.
• Support market analyses, trend reports and technology radars for partners.
• Synthesize research into clear, engaging summaries for PortXL thought leadership.
• Collaborate with Scouting to enrich the startup database with context.
• Monitor signals from publications, patents, funding announcements and events.
