Job summary

Real is seeking a Manager Maintenance Utilities to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for the reliability and performance of critical utility systems, including HVAC, WFI, steam, and related infrastructure.

You will guide preventive and corrective maintenance, manage external contractors, and drive asset management initiatives while collaborating with production, engineering, quality, and site functions to align maintenance with current needs and future growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Min. 10 years in maintenance in manufacturing.
• Strong Asset Management knowledge.
• 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Experience with utilities maintenance in a regulated industrial environment.
• 5+ years GMP manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading technical teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to balance operational activities with long-term objectives.
• Experience with SAP PM or similar maintenance management systems.
• Excellent Dutch and English communication.

About the Role

As Manager Maintenance Utilities, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of critical utility systems, including HVAC, WFI, steam, and related infrastructure.

You will oversee a team of maintenance engineers and technicians, while also managing key external maintenance contracts. Together, you will ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of utility assets that support manufacturing activities.

This role offers a unique combination of people leadership, strategic asset management, stakeholder management, and operational excellence. While day-to-day challenges may require your attention, you will also be expected to drive long-term improvements in maintenance performance, workforce development, and asset reliability.

You will work closely with production, engineering, quality, and other site functions to ensure maintenance activities support both current business needs and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
• Ensure reliable operation and continuous improvement of utility systems such as HVAC, WFI, steam, and supporting infrastructure.
• Drive preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
• Manage external maintenance service providers and contracts.
• Implement and improve asset management strategies and maintenance processes.
• Balance operational priorities with long-term maintenance plans and site objectives.
• Drive performance, efficiency, safety, compliance, and reliability improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of Asset Management principles and methodologies.
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar leadership role with a proven track record.
• Experience with maintenance of utilities in a regulated industrial environment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working within a GMP manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to manage operational activities while maintaining focus on long-term objectives.
• Experience working with SAP PM or similar maintenance management systems.
• Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English.
