Job summary

Innatera, a Dutch semiconductor company, seeks an experienced System Engineer (Linux) with DevOps and CI/CD to manage compute server infrastructure for global R&D teams. The role focuses on Linux server lifecycle, automation, and end-to-end CI/CD integration, with Ceph storage tuning and datacenter operations.

Strong scripting, virtualization, and storage expertise are required to support mission-critical R&D workloads.

Qualifications

• 5+ years managing complex on-prem Linux compute environments
• Experience building automated provisioning workflows and configuration management
• Proven proficiency in designing and integrating GitLab CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with virtualization (VMware/Proxmox) and distributed storage (Ceph)
• Troubleshooting, performance tuning, and optimizing Linux distributions (RHEL/Rocky/Ubuntu)
• Experience with end-user Linux systems including macOS/Windows environments
• Clear, structured technical documentation for complex IT infrastructure
• Comfortable with sprint work and variable workloads

Job description

Innatera is a rapidly growing Dutch semiconductor company that develops ultra-efficient neuromorphic processors for AI at the edge. These microprocessors mimic the brain’s mechanisms for processing fast data streams from sensors, enabling complex turn-key sensor analytics functionalities, with 10,000x higher performance per watt than competing solutions. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic System Engineer (Linux) with DevOps and CI/CD experience to help our growing R&D Engineering team and manage our expanding compute server infrastructure used by our global R&D teams for chip design. This is a mission-critical role and an opportunity to do deeply impactful work.

We will trust you with:

• Infrastructure Lifecycle Management: Setting up and maintaining Linux-based compute servers and desktops/notebooks, and providing end-user support to our engineering teams;

• Scripting Automation & Deployment: Design, implement, and scale automated OS deployment and configuration management frameworks (Ansible, Cobbler, Uyuni, FreeIPA) to minimize manual intervention and ensure consistent system state

• CI/CD & DevOps Integration: Collaborate with software engineering teams to bridge the gap between development and operations, specifically by integrating and enhancing GitLab CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery

• Distributed Storage tuning: Architect, maintain, and optimize Ceph (CephFS/RBD) distributed storage infrastructure to deliver the high-throughput, low-latency I/O required for engineering workloads.

• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides to facilitate knowledge transfer and team efficiency.

• Datacenter Operations & Strategy: In addition to the above, actively assist with physical datacenter operations, including racking, cabling, and servicing servers and network equipment to maintain and optimize our infrastructure.

Your experience includes:

• 5+ years of experience managing complex, on-prem Linux compute environments, with a proven track record of supporting mission-critical R&D operations.

• Experience building and maintaining automated provisioning workflows and configuration management frameworks using industry-standard tooling (Ansible, Cobbler, Uyuni, FreeIPA).

• Proven proficiency in designing, maintaining, and integrating GitLab CI/CD pipelines within complex SDLC.

• Good knowledge in the full lifecycle management of virtualized environments (VMware/Proxmox) and high-resiliency distributed storage clusters (Ceph/CephFS).

• Experience in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and optimizing Linux distributions (RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu) within bare-metal and virtual infrastructure

• Solid foundation in managing end-user Linux systems, with a working knowledge of macOS and Windows environments, including hardware lifecycle support.

• Proven experience in creating and maintaining clear, accurate, and structured technical documentation for complex IT infrastructure, system procedures, and architectural standards.

• Comfortable with sprint work, with certain periods of high and low work variability

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of implementing and managing chip design tool installations within on-prem infrastructure, e.g., Cadence and Siemens tools, is a plus;

• Experience in setting up and maintaining the NIS2 security standard.
