You’ll lead the retouching team, ensure pixel-perfect quality, and collaborate with art directors and QA to deliver standout visuals for top brands. Strong leadership, communication, and English proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience retouching and creating beautiful images.
• Automotive retouching experience is a big plus.
• Expert in Photoshop pathing, masking, adjustment layers, and smart objects.
• Comfortable using Generative AI tools and integrating them into practical photography.
• Strong eye for art, composition, and balanced layouts.

About the Role

Monks is looking for an exceptional Lead Retoucher to join our team in Buenos Aires. In this leadership role, you will champion the craft of high-end automotive retouching, guiding a dedicated global team in producing top-quality content for one of the world's most recognizable brands. You will act as the bridge between creative vision and technical execution, mastering complex compositing, CGI integration, and Generative AI workflows.

Responsibilities

Craft & Technical Execution

Automotive Visuals: Deliver complex, photo-realistic images of both vehicle interiors and exteriors, mastering precision vehicle paint color changes and complex material adjustments.

Material & Lighting Mastery: Apply a keen eye to the effects of lighting, shadow, and color across varied surfaces—including vehicle paint, chrome, glass, and plastic parts—ensuring absolute photorealism.

CGI & Gen AI Integration: Seamlessly integrate CGI vehicles and Generative AI elements into practical photography. Retouch CGI vehicles into practical backgrounds by adjusting paint colors, bright-work reflections, drop shadows, and window transparencies for lighting and color harmony.

Environment Building: Create large complex environmental extensions to fit banner format proportions, which may include buildings, roads, mountains, bridges, and skies.

Advanced Workflows: Utilize Generative AI tiling in Photoshop to maintain hi-resolution images, and apply an understanding of perspective and how to correct or match it to create a realistic look.

Leadership & Collaboration

Team Guidance: You'll help other designers excel at retouching, harmonizing speed, style, and scale to retouch high-end photography at a steady pace.

Quality Safeguarding: Pixel perfectness is important. You safeguard quality at all times and work together with QA testers.

Client Partnership: You will work together directly with art directors on the client side, representing Monks from a design POV.

Process Efficiency: You are always on the lookout for process efficiencies.

About You

Essentials & Requirements

Experience: For this role, we're looking for a designer with around 5+ years of experience retouching and creating beautiful images.** A****utomotive retouching experience is a big nice to have.**

Photoshop Mastery: You are an expert in Photoshop and know every trick in the book. You must be an expert at Photoshop pathing, masking, adjustment layers, and smart objects, as well as knowledgeable of camera raw files. You know how to keep your files, layers, and folders super-organized.

Gen AI Proficiency: Comfortable using Generative AI tools and integrating them into practical photography.

Artistic Vision: You have an eye for art and composition and can relate to what's typically desirable in a photographic image. Creating balanced and beautiful layouts is your second nature. A good balance of creative vision and technical execution is required.

Soft & Hard Skills: A good communicator and problem solver, with a balance of Soft and Hard skills. You can take charge of small tasks independently, and take on bigger jobs with little supervision. You are a clear communicator and are happy to work with designers from all over the world.

Language: You are well-versed in English and production tricks.
