Job summary

Kyndryl is hiring an IT Platform Engineer to join the Data & Analytics Platform team for a major bank. You will design, build and run scalable data pipelines and services in Azure, focusing on reliability, security and performance.

You will collaborate with engineers, administrators and security experts to ensure the platform meets evolving needs while following best practices in scalability and fault tolerance. Hybrid work is supported.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing data platforms in cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of SOLID principles, design patterns and testing.
• Hands-on knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD and data security best practices.
• Familiarity with cloud services and infrastructure as code.

As an IT Platform Engineer you are responsible for developing and implementing crucial functionality for the Enterprise Data Lake. You will work closely with other development engineers, system administrators and security professionals to ensure the platform meets the bank’s needs while adhering to best practices in scalability, reliability, fault tolerance and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver robust, secure, high‑quality solutions in a cloud‑based environment.
• Advocate and apply best practices in software engineering, including SOLID principles, design patterns and domain‑driven design (DDD).
• Partner with Product Owners, Architects and IT stakeholders to align technical strategy with business objectives.
• Build and maintain scalable data platforms in Azure with the engineering team.
• Implement DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery.
• Ensure code quality through automated testing frameworks (e.g. Pytest, mocking).
• Support and mentor team members, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation and continuous improvement.

Required Technical and Professional Experience

Core Engineering

• Strong experience in object‑oriented programming, analysis and design (Python preferred).
• Application of SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Strong understanding of the incremental software development cycle, DevOps and CI/CD.
• Cloud & data platforms.
• Proven expertise with cloud services (SDK, Terraform, Databricks—Azure preferred).
• Experience with Unity Catalog (a plus).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, e.g. Terraform (a plus).
• Testing & quality.
• Familiarity with writing layer tests / the testing pyramid (Pytest a plus).

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Analytical thinker and effective problem solver.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Ability to mentor and support team members.
