We are looking for a Junior Trader to join our dynamic and international team in Utrecht! At GAR Europe BV, you'll be part of the Worldwide Sugar Team, trading and distributing around 1 M MT of sugar annually across the globe.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that combines trading, operations, and position management. We’re looking for someone who is self-driven, solutions-oriented, and passionate about international trade and agricultural markets.

Strong communication, analytical, and negotiation skills are essential, along with a curious, humble, and hands-on attitude. You should be a team player who can also think independently and thrive in a small, committed team. Key Responsibilities

Follow up on daily commercial decisions in line with the agreed trading game plan
Sell sugar with a focus on an assigned region and/or customer portfolio, ensuring adequate execution and margins
Create long-lasting and profitable commercial relationships with our customers and suppliers
Develop new customer portfolio, actively search for new customers, helping the sales desk to increase the volume of sales
Manage and report the risk of your customers’ positions
Monitor and analyze global and regional sugar supply and demand flows, providing timely market insights to the global Sugar team
Oversee contract terms and conditions with counterparties, ensure payment verification, and coordinate the resolution of any claims
Collaborate closely with the trade execution and finance teams to ensure accurate tracking and management of sales & purchase activities

Requirements

1+ years of relevant experience, preferably in sugar or soft commodities (physical) trading
Experience in the commodity trading industry
Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to a broad range of tasks and challenges
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Proficiency in additional languages such as French, Mandarin, or Arabic is a plus
Experience with Microsoft Office
