Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Fiducial is a fast-growing deep-tech startup building on-board UAV software for defence-adjacent applications. You will ensure secure, reliable IT operations from laptops to cloud pipelines and field deployments, while owning infrastructure decisions and tooling in a fast-paced environment.
The role requires hands-on engineering across day-to-day IT, security policy, and deployment pipelines, with autonomy and judicious tool selection. Ambition to learn and adapt is valued highly.
Preferred starting date: ASAP
Weekly availability: Full-time (5 days/week)
Location: Aerospace Innovation Hub, Delft, the Netherlands
Fiducial is a young but fast-growing deep-tech start-up with big ambitions at the frontier of autonomy, perception, and defence. Our core expertise lies in 3D vision and graphics technologies which we deploy in a dual-use context for inspection and defence. This role will focus mainly on the defence context, where we are developing software for advanced on-board UAV situational awareness in military applications. Our solutions are aimed to operate with low-cost and widely available sensors and compute. From there, we plan to develop a line‑up of interconnected solutions to safeguard European safety.
Our team consists of engineers who are passionate about the technology and solutions they develop. The only time most of us are not thinking about the technology is when we are asleep — and sometimes even then. Our team members have backgrounds in fields such as Aerospace Engineering, Computational Science and Engineering, Robotics, and Computer Graphics. Our office is located in the Aerospace Innovation Hub, a start-up hub on the TU Delft campus in the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering.
We work closely with top-tier partners, ranging from government agencies and prime contractors to academic research institutes and other start-ups. Our projects span from large tender orders in collaboration with partners to low-TRL research with government agencies. Whether through formal R&D programs or rapid prototyping tracks, we operate at the intersection of innovation and deployment.
As IT Infrastructure & Security Engineer at Fiducial, you will be the person who makes sure our technology — and the people building it — can operate securely, reliably, and without friction, whether that's a laptop for a new hire, a cloud environment for the dev team, or the deployment pipeline that gets our software onto a UAV in the field.
This is a broad, hands‑on role for someone who takes ownership rather than waits for a ticket. You'll move fluidly between day‑to‑day IT operations, security policy and hardening, and infrastructure/deployment engineering — picking up whatever tools and skills the problem in front of you requires. In a defence‑adjacent start‑up, the person in this seat isn't just keeping the lights on; you're building the operational backbone that lets a small team ship high‑stakes software fast, safely, and reliably.
We're not looking for someone who already has a checklist of tools memorised — we're looking for someone with the judgment, curiosity, and grit to figure out the right tool, learn it, and own it.
