Want to help shape the future of Financial Markets? This is your opportunity.
During the Financial Markets Tribe internship programme, you will gain hands‑on experience in one of the teams that builds, runs, and continuously improves ING’s Financial Markets business. You will contribute from day one in a dynamic, international environment at the intersection of markets, clients, products, data, technology, risk, and operations.
ING’s purpose is ‘Empowering people to stay a step ahead in life and in business.’ Every ING colleague is given the opportunity to contribute to that vision. We champion self-reliance and foster a collaborative and innovative culture. The Orange Code is our global manifesto for how we stay true to our purpose and our traditions of reinvention and empowerment. It consists of ING Values (we are honest; we are prudent; we are responsible) and ING Behaviours: (you take it on and make it happen; you help others to be successful; you are always a step ahead).
Our Financial Markets Tribe internship programme is a full‑time experience of 6 to 10 months with a steep learning curve. You will join the Pricing Core team, with opportunities to learn from or contribute to related teams across the tribe. The programme gives you a broad understanding of how Financial Markets serves clients and how ideas are translated into reliable, scalable solutions.
From day one, you will work on meaningful assignments, receive guidance from experienced colleagues, and take part in learning and networking activities that provide insight into different parts of Financial Markets and ING.
Financial Markets (FM) is part of ING Wholesale Banking. It combines client coverage, markets expertise, product capabilities, data, technology, quantitative modelling, risk management, and operational support to serve clients across regions and asset classes.
FM helps clients access markets, manage financial risks, raise funding, invest, and execute transactions. Within the Financial Markets Tribe, teams across product, Front Office, quantitative modelling, engineering, data, risk, and operations work together to improve the end‑to‑end journeys that support pricing and transaction execution. As an intern, you will see how client and business priorities are translated into tribe objectives, prioritised backlogs, and controlled, resilient, and scalable solutions.
Your assignment will be matched to your strengths and interests and will reflect the work of a Customer Journey Expert (CJE) in the tribe. You could help identify stakeholder and user needs, analyse an end‑to‑end journey or process, translate insights into clear requirements, support prioritisation and delivery, and help ensure that solutions are adopted and deliver measurable value.
Successful Financial Markets solutions depend on close collaboration between commercial, product, technology, data, quantitative, risk, and operational teams. Your internship may sit within one discipline, but you will learn how decisions and deliveries connect across the wider tribe.
You will gain practical experience in a complex, fast‑moving business, build your understanding of financial markets, and develop skills in analysis, communication, collaboration, and delivery. You will also have the opportunity to connect with colleagues from different disciplines and explore where your interests could take you within ING.
Applications are currently open on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. The start of the programme is flexible and the minimum length of the internship is 6 months.
Round 1: submit your online application
The first stage of the selection process is to submit your CV and a motivation letter and ING will be in touch about your first screening. For the motivation letter please answer the following questions:
Applications without motivation letter will not be considered.
Round 2: Orange Code and business fit interview
Should you pass the first screening, we will invite you for an interview. We will ask you questions based on the ING Orange Code and focus on how you align with the ING culture.
Round 3: Offer
If the interview was successful for both sides we’ll make you an offer and we’ll discuss start date
This is a great opportunity to train with highly skilled people who are experts in their field. You’ll do a lot and learn a lot – not only about your specialist area and the bank, but also about yourself and whether this type of environment is right for you.
During the duration of your internship at ING, it is mandatory to be enrolled at a Dutch university (or EU-university for EU passport holders).
Every year, more than 350 students join our internship program. While there are no guarantees about your future, many of our former interns move into a permanent role or onto our International Talent Programme (traineeship).
Whatever happens, an internship at ING is the ideal opportunity to meet a wide variety of people, to build up your own network, and to learn about many different aspects of banking – put simply, it’s a great start to your career.
