Job summary

TNO is seeking a Research Scientist in InSAR-Geodesy to advance InSAR-based observation techniques for monitoring geohazards and to translate SAR data into actionable insights for research, projects and clients.

You will develop software tools, process multi-temporal InSAR stacks, and integrate measurements with geomechanical models, collaborating with international teams and clients in English.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in geodesy, geophysics, or remote sensing is required or strongly considered.
  • Hands-on experience with InSAR data processing using GAMMA, ISCE, StaMPS, GMTSAR, or equivalents is essential.
  • Experience processing SAR data from Sentinel-1, RADARSAT-2, TerraSAR-X, or similar satellites is expected.
  • Solid understanding of InSAR error sources and correction methods (atmospheric delay, orbital errors, DEM errors) is required.
  • Strong coding skills in Python and familiarity with geospatial/SAR libraries are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software for advanced InSAR data processing (interferogram formation, phase unwrapping, atmospheric correction, time-series inversion).
  • Process and quality-control multi-temporal InSAR stacks to derive ground deformation products.
  • Improve and automate InSAR workflows for operational and research use.
  • Integrate InSAR-derived deformation with geomechanical models.
  • Contribute to proposals, technical reports, and scientific publications.
  • Support project acquisition and client communication.
