Job summary

Tata Steel IJmuiden zoekt een HVAC Technical Specialist die verantwoordelijk is voor ontwikkeling, specificatie en optimalisatie van HVAC-systemen op een van Europas grootste industriële sites. Je fungeert als expert op het gebied van klimaatbeheersing, ventilatie en HVAC-Engineering, zowel in bestaande installaties als bij nieuwbouwprojecten.

Je werkt nauw samen met projectteams en onderhoudsdeskundigen, draagt bij aan het ontwerp, de uitvoering en continue verbetering van HVAC-installaties in

Qualifications

• Bachelor-/Master-niveau in werktuigbouwkunde of een verwante technische discipline
• Ervaring met HVAC-systemen, bij voorkeur in een industriële omgeving
• Kennis van stromingsleer, trillinganalyse, HVAC-akoestiek en/of aerodynamica
• Ervaring met multidisciplinaire projectteams
• In staat technische vraagstukken te analyseren en praktische oplossingen te ontwikkelen
• TVVL Air Handling Technology-kwalificatie of gelijkwaardig (pré)

Responsibilities

• Ontwikkelen en specificeren van energiezuinige HVAC-systemen voor kapitaalprojecten
• Ondersteunen van projecten in alle engineeringfasen, van concept tot implementatie
• Ontwikkelen van technische oplossingen om klimaat in productieruimtes en kantoren te verbeteren
• Optreden als technisch expert en aanspreekpunt voor HVAC-gerelateerde onderwerpen
• Intro- en onderhoud van engineeringstandaarden, specificaties en richtlijnen

As an HVAC Technical Specialist at Tata Steel in IJmuiden, you are responsible for the development, specification and optimisation of HVAC systems across one of Europe’s largest industrial sites. You act as the subject matter expert for climate control, ventilation and HVAC-related engineering challenges within both existing facilities and new capital investment projects.

Working closely with project teams and plant maintenance specialists, you contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of HVAC installations throughout all project phases, from concept development to commissioning.

A unique aspect of this role is the wide variety of HVAC applications you will encounter within a single industrial environment. You will see your technical solutions translated directly into practice and contribute to Tata Steel’s transition towards a more sustainable future, including the move to steel production based on hydrogen.

As an HVAC Technical Specialist you will...

• Develop and specify energy-efficient HVAC systems for capital investment projects.
• Support projects throughout all engineering phases, from concept development to implementation.
• Develop technical solutions to improve climate conditions in production halls, offices and other facilities.
• Act as the technical expert and point of contact for HVAC-related topics across the site.
• Introduce, implement and maintain engineering standards, specifications and guidelines.

You are a technically driven specialist who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and translating theory into practical solutions. You are curious by nature and continuously strive to expand your expertise within HVAC, ventilation, acoustics and related engineering disciplines.

You feel comfortable operating in a large industrial environment where no two installations are the same. You enjoy working with different stakeholders, from maintenance specialists and operators to project managers and engineers, and know how to explain technical concepts in a clear and convincing manner.

You take ownership of your work, are able to analyse problems thoroughly and are not afraid to challenge existing solutions if a better alternative exists. At the same time, you are pragmatic enough to develop solutions that can actually be implemented in practice. You also have:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with HVAC systems, preferably within an industrial environment.
• Knowledge of fluid dynamics, vibration analysis, HVAC acoustics and/or aerodynamics.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ability to analyse technical issues and develop practical solutions.
• A TVVL Air Handling Technology qualification or equivalent (preferred).

The Projects & Engineering (P&E) department is a proactive and professional provider of project management and engineering services, based on specialized process, plant, and technical expertise. As the internal engineering consultancy of Tata Steel IJmuiden, with more than 250 employees, we support the realization and continuous improvement of production facilities across the site.

The Ventilation, Acoustics and Lubrication Engineering group consists of nine specialists located just a short distance from the production site. They are recognized experts in their field and provide technical expertise to both projects and operational plants.
