Job description

You will work on complex HV and MV electrical infrastructures at the heart of mission critical and data centre projects worldwide. This role offers real technical ownership, exposure to high-impact projects and the opportunity to shape reliable, future-proof power systems together with leading experts.

What will you do as HV/ MV Lead Electrical Engineer (MCF/ Data Centres)

You act as the client side HV/ MV electrical engineer on mission critical and data centre projects, with a strong focus on substation design, grid connections and technical governance. You support clients from early feasibility through design development and delivery, ensuring that electrical infrastructure solutions are robust, compliant and future-ready.

Key activities include:

  • Defining HV and MV system concepts and substation design strategies from an owner engineer perspective;
  • Developing and reviewing HV substation layouts, including primary equipment selection, system architectures, protection strategies and earthing philosophies;
  • Proposing system optimisations to clients to improve reliability, increase future flexibility, reduce cost or shorten time-to-market in line with their decision drivers;
  • Leading and interpreting electrical studies to support grid connection and design decisions;
  • Managing technical interfaces with utilities, clients and delivery partners and reviewing contractor designs and technical submissions to safeguard quality, compliance and performance.

As our new HV/ MV Electrical Lead Engineer (MCF/ Data Centres) you will become part of our Global Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) team.

Our global MCF team provides multidisciplinary consultancy services to datacentre clients, including colocation datacentres, internet service providers, and telecom companies. The team is diverse, with expertise in areas like electrical and mechanical engineering, construction, architecture, fire safety, control engineering, and security technology. Together, this knowledge is used to develop integrated designs for Data Centres. You will be part of a dedicated, passionate team that is globally recognized as one of the best in Data Centre design and engineering. Curious about our work? The role will be based in our Nijmegen office. As our team is located throughout the EU, travel between offices may be required to meet the project demands. The role may also require occasional travel to client offices/ project sites both in the EU and overseas.

What you bring

You are able to take ownership of complex technical scopes and act confidently in a client facing, advisory role. You communicate clearly, structure complex information effectively and work comfortably across disciplines, organisations and cultural contexts.

In addition, you possess the following:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline, required to provide the technical depth needed for HV and MV system and substation design;
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in HV and MV electrical engineering within European projects, needed to independently lead client side, owner engineer and substation related scopes;
  • Proven experience with client-side substation design and grid connections, essential for managing utility interfaces and safeguarding technical quality from the client perspective;
  • Experience with electrical power system studies and review of contractor designs, required to assess risks, validate solutions and support sound decision making;
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, necessary for effective collaboration with international clients, utilities and multidisciplinary project teams.
