Job summary

The Social Hub Amsterdam is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to keep our hotel running smoothly behind the scenes. You will work with the Maintenance Manager to address day-to-day repair needs, ensuring guest comfort, safety, and a well-maintained property.

You’ll be hands-on, practical, and proactive— diagnosing issues early, taking ownership, and jumping in where needed. The role values independence, teamwork, and a guest-friendly attitude in a dynamic hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally in hospitality.
• Strong hands-on technical skills and enjoy fixing things yourself.
• Specialize in plumbing.
• Stay calm under pressure and like solving problems on the spot.
• Work independently but enjoy being part of a close-knit team.
• Flexible with tasks, schedules, and changing priorities.
• Speak the local language fluently.
• Positive, professional, and guest-friendly attitude.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day maintenance issues across the hotel, from plumbing and lighting to locks and small repairs.
• Complete daily walkarounds and keep indoor and outdoor areas clean, safe, and looking sharp.
• Carry out preventative maintenance checks to spot issues before they become problems.
• Tackle minor painting and cosmetic fixes when things need a refresh.
• Support and coordinate external contractors when specialist work is needed.
• Keep an eye on stock levels for tools, materials, and spare parts.
• Jump in on ad hoc tasks and support the Maintenance Manager when required.
