Job description

We are looking for a Head of Finance to join Villari. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy and operations. The role is both strategic and hands‑on: you will develop and execute robust financial processes, build financial models, and support future funding rounds. Working closely with the CEO and CCO/COO, you will provide strategic financial guidance to drive scalable growth, manage risks, and support decision‑making in a high‑growth environment. You will shape our finance function, preparing us for the next stage of scaling and funding while ensuring financial stability, first as an individual contributor, and later as the leader of the finance team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic financial leadership: You analyze financial performance, provide insights, and ensure that business operations align with organizational goals and budgets. You are able to make scenario‑based financial forecasts, supporting future funding rounds.

  • Financial governance & operational excellence: You develop and implement robust financial processes and governance frameworks to ensure effective financial management and accountability.

  • Financial modelling, planning & performance management: You oversee financial operations by managing accounting, budgets, reporting, compliance, and internal controls to ensure Villari’s financial health. You are also able to report these insights through various channels.

About Us

At Villari, we are dedicated to extending the lifetime of steel structures in ports, infrastructure, and the steel industry through our certified crack‑detection technology. Our permanently installed wireless sensors detect even the smallest fatigue cracks in critical locations of bridges and cranes by analyzing variations in the magnetic field over time. Compared to traditional methods, we offer continuous and accurate inspection, carefree installation, competitive pricing, and certified technology. Our unique and patented solution has earned the trust of esteemed clients such as ArcelorMittal, MISTRAS, DP World, and many more. We take pride in our extensive coverage, with 2,500 sensors deployed across 13 countries on 5 continents, ensuring the safety and longevity of critical steel structures worldwide. Villari is headquartered in Delft and supported by a team of 23 employees.

Villari’s Core Values
  1. Integrity - We are honest about what we know and what we don't know for certain. We treat our data with the greatest care and understand that it is of utmost importance in this critical industrial environment in which we operate. There is always room to address doubts and uncertainties, such that nothing is swept under the rug.

  2. Expertise - Our company is delivering seriously high‑tech service: we’re not building a new app to order pizza. The combination of fatigue crack growth, ferromagnetic flux leakage, and seamless wireless communication is our unique domain in which we work with a proud team of highly skilled and intellectual people. Clients rely on us because we know what we’re doing.

  3. Accountability - We take responsibility for our actions. There’s no “not my problem” or “I don’t care” attitude at Villari. Learning from each other and carrying a both collective and individual feeling of ownership is extremely important in order to be an effective and well‑balanced team.

  4. Exploration - Villari was founded on the idea that we were bold enough to take complex physics and turn it into a meaningful product for our clients. As such we’ve pushed quite some boundaries along the way and we’re not afraid to turn left where others go right. On all levels people should be encouraged to try out new things and to test “wild ideas”. We understand and accept that new ideas sometimes turn out to be unsuccessful, as this is an integral part of exploring.

  5. Approachability - As a company, and as individuals, we want to always be open for discussion, feedback, doubts, or just a casual chat about a topic unrelated to work. This goes towards clients, suppliers, colleagues, and towards superiors and people under your supervision. We help each other out and listen when others have something to say, regardless of seniority.

What will you bring?
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, with at least 1‑2 years in an SME or tech startup environment

  • Strong knowledge of financial management, financial processes, accounting principles, and financial regulations

  • Experience in managing budgets and overseeing working capital performance

  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as ERP systems (e.g., Exact), Excel, and Power BI

  • Ability to work in a high‑growth, rapidly evolving environment

  • Proactive, pragmatic, hands‑on mentality

  • Not afraid to pick up a few tasks outside of the traditional financial scope

  • You take ownership and like to get the job done

  • Dutch: Must‑have (professional working proficiency)

What do we offer?
  • A competitive salary, in line with your experience

  • A performance‑linked rewards package

  • Contribute to, and experience, being part of an internationally operating startup that’s growing exponentially

  • Experience with investor reporting and fundraising processes

  • A vibrant yet professional company culture, based on ownership and responsibility

  • 25 vacation days per year

  • Hybrid and on‑site working opportunities

  • Daily lunch provided at our office

  • Monthly company drinks and regular company outings
