Job summary

CoolGames, an international HTML5 game studio with HQ in Amsterdam, is looking for a Casual Game Developer to contribute to the full lifecycle of HTML5 casual games, from inception to live-ops and maintenance.

You will join a multidisciplinary agile team, helping deliver high-quality titles, evolve existing games, and contribute to tooling, while balancing deadlines and performance. Hybrid in Amsterdam or remote if located outside the Netherlands.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of professional programming experience.
• Solid knowledge of development best practices.
• Ability to balance speed and quality in delivery.
• Estimations are consistently on point.
• Proactive communication and risk mitigation in tech projects.
• Understands the commercial reality of casual games.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development practices.
• Experience with version control tools like git.
• Proficiency with web game technologies such as PIXI, Phaser or Three.js.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality HTML5 casual games from design to live-ops.
• Collaborate with designers, artists, QA and other developers.
• Develop new titles and evolve existing games.
• Maintain internal tooling and improve codebase.
• Optimise performance, debug, fix bugs and perform code reviews.
• Ensure platform compatibility and stability.

We are looking for a Casual Game Developer who will contribute to the entire lifecycle of HTML5 casual game development, from inception to live-ops and maintenance. About the role

As a Game Developer at CoolGames, you take responsibility for delivering high quality products. Your teamwork will be fundamental to the success of the products you work on. You don’t just “implement tickets.” You think along. You raise risks early. You help improve the codebase.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary development team collaborating with game designers, game artists, quality assurance engineers, and fellow game developers. You work on developing new titles, evolving existing games, as well as contributing to the maintenance and evolving our internal tooling.

You are adept at managing your time and productivity with the goal to deliver robust code while meeting established deadlines.

Next to working on features for our games your responsibilities include optimisation, debugging, fixing bugs, performing code reviews, reviewing requirements, working on platform compatibility and ensuring our games remain stable and performant.
