TU Delft's Faculty of Aerospace Engineering invites a PhD candidate to lead the FoilDrone research, combining a VTOL sailplane with a submerged, tethered hydrofoil to enable long-endurance maritime surveillance.

You will develop simulations and experiments, publish high-impact papers, and supervise master's and bachelor theses within a world-leading aerospace research environment at Delft. The four-year position offers competitive compensation and access to state-of-the-art facilities.

Qualifikationen

• Master of Science in Aerospace, Robotics, or related field.
• Strong background in flight dynamics and GNC.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Python for simulations.
• Proven ability to publish research in peer-reviewed journals.

Aufgaben

• Advance FoilDrone research from concept to implementation through simulations and experiments.
• Develop models linking aerial vehicle to submerged hydrofoil via tether.
• Design wind-tunnel experiments, tow-tank tests, and open-water trials.
• Publish high-impact papers and contribute to student thesis supervision.
