Job summary

Payter B.V. is seeking a hands-on engineering leader to shape the technical direction, mentor engineers, and deliver cloud-native payment platform solutions. You will own ADRs, coding standards, and agile practices across cross-functional squads.

The role focuses on building high-performance microservices in Go and Java, Angular interfaces, and secure infrastructure on GCP with Kubernetes, CI/CD and IaC. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a tech lead or staff engineer capacity.
• Proven production-grade experience with Go and Java for distributed systems and microservices.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript with hands-on Angular experience.
• Experience running cloud-native systems on major clouds (GCP preferred) and Kubernetes.
• Led CI/CD pipelines with DevOps/GitOps and IaC tooling (Terraform).
• Ability to lead projects end-to-end and translate tech concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka, NATS), GraphQL design, and security best practices.

Instead of maintaining the status quo, you will drive the technical direction of cross-functional squads, mentor talented engineers, and build the scalable technology that powers Payter’s global payment platform.

Responsibilities

• Architect and manage secure, cloud-native infrastructure (GCP, Kubernetes) and drive Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD pipelines.

• Optimize system performance across SQL/NoSQL databases and ensure platform reliability through comprehensive testing, observability, and zero-trust security.

• Mentor and coach engineers at all levels, while partnering closely with Product Managers to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• You have 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a tech lead or staff engineer capacity.

• You possess strong, production-grade experience with Go (Golang) and Java for building distributed systems and microservices.

• You have deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, with hands-on experience in Angular.

• You have a proven track record designing and running cloud-native systems on at least one major cloud platform (GCP preferred), alongside a solid understanding of Kubernetes container orchestration.

• You are experienced in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, applying DevOps/GitOps principles, and using Infrastructure-as-Code tooling like Terraform.

• You have demonstrated the ability to lead technical projects end-to-end and possess excellent communication skills to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

• You have familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka, NATS), GraphQL API design and security engineering best practices (OWASP, SOC 2).
