Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) is a young and growing Economics department. The position of the Chair in Banking and Finance contributes to the (inter)national reputation and profile of U.S.E. in line with its multidisciplinary vision on research, teaching, and impact in the area of banking and finance. The Chair plays a crucial role in strengthening the international research profile and expertise of U.S.E. and its Finance section.

The main goal of the Chair in Banking and Finance is to further advance research (aligned with the relevant UU strategic themes, mainly “ Institutions for Open Societies ” and/or “ Pathways to Sustainability ”), and education in the relevant fields of expertise. Additional duties include supervision of PhD Candidates and mentoring of (Post-Doctoral) researchers resulting in state-of-the-art PhD-manuscripts and publications, and the transfer of knowledge to society by organizing events (such as conferences and workshops). Teaching of the chair will connect the field with other relevant disciplines, in line with U.S.E.’s Real World Perspective. Cooperation with other USE sections and other departments and faculties within UU in teaching and research is strongly encouraged. The tasks and responsibilities of the Chair will include:
