Job summary

You will deploy production code from day one, tackle tickets, write tests, and collaborate on small, well-defined PRs.

You will focus on performance, accessibility, and maintainable frontend architecture while applying best practices for code quality and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• React/Next.js expertise to build features from specifications, including routing and data-fetching decisions.
• CSS layout, responsive design, and debugging component structure vs styling issues.
• Styled-Components or CSS-in-JS usage with theming and SSR awareness.
• TypeScript: typing components, props, and hooks using generics and unions.
• Testing with Jest/RTL from scratch, creating mocks and focusing on behavior over implementation.
• Decompose features from Jira tickets, clarify ambiguities, and provide reliable estimates.
• Git proficiency in team workflows: branches, rebases, diffs, and clean history.
• Conduct insightful code reviews with actionable feedback.
• Debugging using dev tools, network inspection, and React profiling.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Frontend Developer to join our dynamic team, focusing on building innovative features within a modern React/Next.js codebase. In this role, you will deploy real production code from day one, tackling tickets, writing comprehensive tests, and collaborating on small, well-defined pull requests.

Key Responsibilities

• React/Next.js Expertise: Engage with routing (App Router and its rendering model), server/client component boundaries, and data-fetching and caching patterns. Build full features from specifications independently, articulating your choice of rendering and data-fetching approaches.
• CSS Proficiency: Demonstrate skills in layout (flexbox/grid), responsive design, specificity/cascade, and debugging component structure vs. styling issues.
• Styled-Components (or CSS-in-JS): Utilize component-scoped styling, props-driven variants, theming, and understand performance and SSR implications.
• TypeScript Knowledge: Type components, props, and hooks effectively using generics and discriminated unions, and resolve type errors confidently.
• Testing Expertise: Write Jest/RTL tests from scratch, determine what merits testing, manage mocks effectively, and prioritize behavior over implementation details.
• Scoping and Decomposition Skills: Analyze Jira tickets to identify gaps and risks, clarify ambiguities prior to coding, and provide reliable estimates while deconstructing features into manageable PRs.
• Git Proficiency in Team Workflow: Manage branches, rebases, interactive rebases, resolve complex merge conflicts, comprehend diffs, and maintain a clean commit history.
• Code Review Capability: Conduct insightful reviews of peers’ MRs; identify genuine issues, differentiate between blocking problems and subjective preferences, and provide actionable feedback.
• Debugging Skills: Trace bugs back to their root causes using development tools, network inspection, and React profiling, independently.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Agentic Development Fluency: Comfortable using AI coding agents (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) for routine tasks while providing precise instructions and assessing when to utilize AI versus manual coding.
• Performance Awareness: Possess knowledge of bundle size, render cost, deliberate memoization, and experience improving Core Web Vitals.
• Accessibility Fundamentals: Understand semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, and focus management, with awareness of accessibility best practices.
• Mentoring Abilities: Capable of pairing with or unblocking junior developers, clearly explaining decisions rather than merely applying them.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Familiarity with Jira for ticket management.
• Experience with Figma, including reading design specs and assessing discrepancies with the component library.
• Proficiency with GitLab (MRs, pipelines, review flow); GitHub experience is transferable.
• Knowledge of i18next, MUI, Storybook, and SWR gained on the job.
• Comfort in navigating a codebase that was not originally authored by you.
