Avivia is a pharmaceutical R&D service company, specializing in innovative pharmaceutical formulation development and characterization. We are looking for a formulation scientist/product developer (Chemist) to join our international, highly skilled team in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. As part of the Avivia team, you will have the opportunity to make an impact within a growing scale‑up and to develop new skills not only in analytical chemistry but also in pharmaceutical formulation development.

Job Description

As a Formulation Development Specialist, you are a key member of the R&D team. Your role is to develop and prepare pharmaceutical formulations to support the development of products for our customers. You will work together with the R&D team and the customer to solve a variety of formulation challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise pharmaceutical formulations including selection of appropriate excipients and processing methods.
• Develop (new) technologies, e.g. release controlled single dosage / pellet technology.
• Perform pre‑formulation studies and stability testing.
• Provide and discuss test data and observations directly with the R&D Team. Based on your input, the next step in formulation development will be made.
• Assist in the scale‑up of formulations from lab scale to pilot scale.
• Prepare technical documentation for technology transfer to manufacturing.
• Maintenance of R&D equipment and systems.

Qualifications

• Education in pharmacy or chemistry (Bachelors, Masters or PhD).
• Knowledge about drug development, chemistry.
• Several years of experience in a similar role is an advantage.
• Enjoy working in the lab.
