Job summary

BauWatch Group is seeking a Finance Director to lead and further develop the Finance organization across the group. Reporting to the CFO, you will lead an international finance team with local country Finance, Group Finance, and the Shared Service Center in Romania.

You will oversee financial reporting, accounting, audit, tax, treasury, and cash management while driving standardization, digitalization, and finance transformation across multiple European markets.

Qualifications

Job description

As Finance Director BauWatch Group, you are responsible for leading and further developing the Finance organization across the BauWatch Group. Reporting directly to the CFO, you lead an international Finance organization consisting of local Finance teams, Group Finance and our Shared Service Center in Romania organization.

Over recent years, the Finance team has built a strong foundation while supporting the rapid international development of BauWatch. Your role is to build further on that foundation together with the team, take the time to understand what has been developed, recognize what works well and bring your own experience and ideas to take the next steps.

The Country Finance Managers report directly to you, with a dotted reporting line to their respective local Managing Directors. Business controlling, planning, forecasting and performance analysis are led by the Group Controlling Manager. You work closely together to ensure strong alignment between financial reporting, Finance operations and business performance management.

Your key responsibility’s

As Group Finance Director, you have broad responsibility for the quality, effectiveness and further development of Finance across BauWatch Group. Your key responsibilities include:

• Lead the international Finance organization - Lead and develop the Country Finance Managers, Group Finance leadership and Shared Service Center, Build a strong Finance community with clear ownership, effective collaboration and common ways of working across countries. You ensure that the fundamentals of Finance - reporting, accounting, audit, tax, treasury, invoicing and cash collection - are well controlled, while continuously improving the way Finance operates and supports the organization.

• Own financial reporting, accounting and audit - Ensure high-quality internal and external financial reporting, statutory compliance, financial controls and the external audit.

• Drive Finance operations and working capital - Own and continuously improve key Finance processes, with particular focus on invoicing, cash collection and Order-to-Cash. Work closely with the business to combine commercial effectiveness with strong financial control.

• Oversee tax, treasury and cash management - Take overall responsibility for Corporate Income Tax and VAT compliance, financing, liquidity and cash flow management across the Group, supported by the Tax & Treasury Specialist.

• Shape Finance systems and digitalization - Own the Finance Application Landscape from a business perspective, including ERP and related applications. Partner closely with IT and play a key role in future implementations, while driving standardization, automation and digitalization across Finance.

• Develop the Shared Service Center - Further develop the Romanian SSC into a scalable, high-quality service organization and an important strategic pillar for BauWatch, including opportunities to support additional functions in the future.

• Connect Finance with the business - Act as a trusted sparring partner to the CFO, Country Managing Directors and other senior stakeholders. Your ability to connect Finance with the rest of the organization will be critical. You build strong relationships across countries and functions, understand what drives the business and translate financial requirements into pragmatic solutions.

Your qualifications:

• A Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.

• A solid background in Finance combined with relevant leadership experience; you are ready to broaden your responsibility and take the next step in your career.

• Experience in an international or multi-country environment.

• Broad understanding of financial reporting, accounting and Finance operations, with sufficient knowledge of tax and treasury to provide effective oversight.

• Experience leading and developing Finance professionals and a genuine interest in helping people grow.

• A strong interest in process improvement, standardization and Finance transformation.

• Experience with ERP systems and preferably exposure to ERP implementations or significant Finance systems projects.

• Experience with Shared Service Centers or centralized Finance organizations is an advantage.

• Strong business acumen and the ability to connect Finance with commercial and operational priorities.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across different levels and cultures.

• A pragmatic, hands-on and solution-oriented mindset.

• A collaborative approach: confident enough to challenge existing thinking, but open-minded enough to recognize and build on what already works.
