Job summary

G3 Systems Ltd is recruiting for a hands-on Field Service Engineer to deliver in-service support for Dutch Ministry of Defence mobility solutions. The home base is Barneveld, with travel to military locations across the Netherlands and occasional Europe.

You will join a brand-new Dutch operation as a founder member, operating within a proven international engineering organisation. Permanent role with career development and a competitive package.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' engineering experience in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical skills with field service experience.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, written and spoken.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems (MMIS/CMMS) or willingness to learn.
  • A valid driving license to travel across the Netherlands.
  • Experience supporting defence or MOD environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and maintenance instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on deployable systems and component repairs.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and perform repairs.
  • Work independently at military locations with support from internal teams.
  • Record maintenance activities, labour and materials in MMIS/CMMS and report findings.
  • Contribute to maintenance program improvements and feedback to engineering.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with security regulations on MOD sites.

This is more than traditional Field Service Engineer role. The Opportunity

Reporting to our Dutch G3 NL Operations Manager, you will provide in‑service engineering support for Dutch Ministry of Defence’s mobility solutions.

This comprises of a diverse range of deployable, mobile and containerised systems incorporating mechanical, electrical and electronic technology, including power generations and distribution, control panels, HVAC systems, system monitoring, SATCOM data connectivity, storage systems and medical support equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, perform trouble shooting, and accomplish approved repairs.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical systems related faults.
  • Work independently at military locations while being supported by our Engineering, Logistics and QA team.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) to further improve the reliability of our systems.
  • Complete inspections, functional testing and verification activities.
  • Provide practical feedback to Engineering towards our maintenance program, logistics, technical documentation and procedures.
  • Utilise our Maintenance Management Information System (MMIS) named Maximo to record maintenance activities, labour & material consumption, configuration control and scheduling.
  • Work in accordance with G3 Systems Operations Procedures Quality Management System,
  • Operate safely and professionally on military establishments whilst complying with having security, safety and site regulations in mind.

Your working environment

Your home base will be our facility in Barneveld and from this location you will travel across military locations, of which most are centrally located in the Netherlands.

Who we are looking For

Working across military barracks, workshops and deployed field locations throughout the Netherlands, you will ensure equipment remains safe, reliable and available for operational use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver in-service technical support to the WTB fleet of containerised systems and associated equipment[GC1] , including generators, HVAC, equipment tracking and monitoring systems, electrical distribution systems and medical supplies storage equipment.
About You

You are an experienced Field Service Engineer who enjoys working independently while supporting military customers and complex engineering equipment.

  • Minimum 5 years' engineering experience within MBO qualification “werktuigbouwkunde”, “elektro Techniek” or a comparable technical discipline.
  • A practical combination of mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Demonstrable Field Service Engineering experience.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering principles and maintenance practices.
  • The ability to read and work with technical drawing manuals and maintenance instructions.
  • A structured approached to fault finding and problem solving.
  • Fluent in both Dutch and English (spoken and written).
  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
  • IT literate with experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • d using maintenance management systems (MMIS/CMMS) or the willingness to learn how to fully utilize the MMIS.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
  • High attention to detail with a professional and reliable approach.
  • A driving license to travel to customer locations through out Netherlands.
  • Previous experience supporting the Dutch Ministry of Defence.
  • Knowledge of relevant European and ISO standards including NEN 3140 and ATEX.
  • Experience supporting military vehicles or defence equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) environments.

This is a hands‑on engineering role involving:

  • Military workshops and maintenance facilities
  • Outdoor working on Dutch MOD establishments
  • Customer and supplier locations
  • Travel throughout the Netherlands
  • Occasional travel within Europe and the United Kingdom
Security Requirements

Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain Dutch Security Clearance (NL Security Clearance).
