Job summary

Vertom Group is seeking an experienced Ship Broker to join the Owners Department. You will negotiate spot and long-term chartering contracts, analyze market trends, advise clients on optimal rates, and expand a global network of ship owners and charterers.

You will draft charter party agreements and ensure compliance with maritime regulations. You will monitor vessel performance and market dynamics while handling disputes and maintaining accurate documentation.

Qualifications

  • HBO degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of ship brokering experience.
  • Strong command of English and Dutch (written and spoken).
  • Understanding of maritime law and shipping regulations.

As an Experienced Ship Broker within the Owners Department at Vertom Group, you play a key role in the commercial success of our fleet. As an Experienced Ship Broker, you will be responsible for the following tasks and duties:

  • Negotiate and secure spot and long-term chartering contracts for vessels within our commercial management.
  • Analyse market trends, freight rates, and vessel positions to identify business opportunities.
  • Advise clients on optimal transport conditions and competitive freight rates.
  • Maintain and expand a strong network of ship owners, charterers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Draft and finalize charter party agreements and ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
  • Monitor vessel performance, market dynamics, and operational developments.
  • Handle any disputes or claims that may arise during the execution of contracts.

What do you bring?

  • A completed HBO degree (or equivalent) in Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in ship brokering.
  • A strong understanding of maritime law, shipping regulations, and operational practices.
  • Excellent command of English and Dutch, both written and spoken (additional languages are a plus).
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
