Job summary

Seas of Solutions, headquartered in Zoetermeer, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a mixed-discipline team of software and firmware developers. The role blends hands-on technical work with people management to deliver regulated maritime products through a stage-gate process.

You will partner with the CTO on technical strategy, roadmap planning, and resourcing, while coaching engineers to build a strong team culture and ensure traceability for certification efforts.

Engineering Manager

The role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a mixed-discipline team of software developers, reporting directly to the CTO. This is a role for someone who wants to stay technically engaged while growing as a leader - expect a roughly even split between hands-on technical work and people management.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a team of 6-10 developers spanning software and firmware disciplines


• Stay hands-on with technical work - architecture decisions, code/design reviews, and problem-solving alongside your team


• Own delivery of regulated maritime products through our stage-gate development process


• Partner with the CTO on technical strategy, resourcing, and roadmap planning


• Support certification and type-approval efforts (Cospas-Sarsat, MED/RED, Wheelmark, IEC 61097/61996) by ensuring engineering rigor and traceability


• Coach and develop engineers, run 1:1s, and build a strong team culture across disciplines


• Manage priorities and trade-offs across multiple concurrent projects

What will you offer

• Proven experience leading a technical team


• Still comfortable getting into the technical details - this isn't a purely administrative management role


• Experience in a regulated, safety-critical, or certification-driven industry is a strong plus (maritime, medical, aerospace, automotive)


• Strong communication skills - you'll be a key link between engineering and the CTO


• Comfortable balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day team support


• Good written and spoken English; Dutch is a plus
