Job summary

Northpool B.V. is seeking an Energy Analyst to join the US power team in the Netherlands. You will learn the main drivers of energy markets and how data informs trading decisions in an in-house program with traders, data engineers, and data scientists.

You will build models, optimize trading strategies, and create dashboards while collaborating closely with the desk to drive efficiency and profitability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in US power markets.
• Analytical or quantitative MSc/PhD required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; quick learner.
• Affinity for meteorology is a plus.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL or similar languages.
• Interest in trading or financial markets.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Data interpretation and model building: identify key drivers of power prices and predict them.
• Develop a Trader's Mindset: collaborate with traders to understand needs.
• Market Analysis: analyze data, identify trends and opportunities for competitive edge.
• Collaboration and Teamwork: work in a multidisciplinary team with traders, data engineers and data scientists.
• Tool Development: design, build, and deploy high-performance analytical tools; ensure data integrity from source to tool.
• Data Visualization: create and maintain complex dashboards tailored to traders' needs.
• Automation: streamline and automate workflows to support trading shifts.
• Adaptability & Learning: keep pace with tech advances and market shifts.
