Job summary

Dalata Hotel Group’s Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American is seeking a Bartender for Café Americain to craft cocktails, pour wines, and brew coffee with energy and hospitality. You’ll engage guests, suggest pairings, and deliver standout service in a landmark Art Deco setting on Leidseplein.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of bartending experience in a dynamic hospitality environment.
• Solid knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wines, beers, and barista-style coffee or eagerness to learn.
• MBO Level 2-3 working and thinking level (or equivalent).
• Comfortable using POS systems (preferably Micros).
• Fluent in English (bonus points for Dutch or other languages).
• Creative, energetic, and calm under pressure.
• Team player who communicates clearly in busy environments.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Awareness of allergen legislation and responsible alcohol service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a wide range of beverages to the highest standard.
• Welcome guests, provide expert drink recommendations, and engage with charm and professionalism.
• Keep the bar clean, organised, and fully stocked at all times.
• Monitor inventory, restock efficiently, and minimise waste with smart stock rotation.
• Stay up to date with the drink menu and seasonal specials; share stories behind signature serves.
• Communicate clearly with floor staff and kitchen to ensure coordinated service.
• Follow hygiene, safety and alcohol service guidelines at all times.
• Proactively manage guest concerns and turn things around positively.
