Job description

MEMS fabrication technician, working in an international, high-tech environment with impactful research in the field of MEMS electron optics.

Electron Optics MEMS Fabrication Technician

Job Description

As a MEMS Fabrication Technician, you will be responsible for optimizing and executing MEMS clean-room processes such as wet-chemical cluster (wet etching, sample cleaning, lift-off, etc.), conductive and non-conductive coating, optical, laser and electron beam patterning/lithography, RIE and DRIE etching, stacking-aligning-gluing, and wire bonding. You will work closely with PIs, PDs, PhDs, and other colleagues to manage, improve, and support these processes and to assist users. In a close and interactive collaboration with other clean-room members, you will also:

  • Manage and optimize processes in the field of electron optics MEMS elements.
  • Provide technical support to users (researchers, students, companies).
  • Train and guide new users (as discussed and approved by the PIs).
  • Contribute to the maintenance and reliability of the processes and equipment.

Job Requirements

You enjoy working at the interface of fundamental research and industrial innovation, collaborating with both academic and industrial partners to achieve tangible results. Embracing the opportunity to work with leading industrial partners, you know how to collaborate and achieve meaningful results geared to the development of pragmatic applications. You also put your curiosity to good use: you don’t take anomalies for granted and take the initiative to dig deeper and spar with experts. Harnessing your communication skills, you convince colleagues at TU Delft and others of your approach, models, and designs.

You also have:

  • A BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Physics, Process Technology, or a comparable field.
  • Motivation to further develop your expertise in cleanroom engineering and technology.
  • A passion for transferring knowledge to students and company employees for the use of our advanced systems.
  • A proactive attitude in executing and improving processes to achieve the best results.
  • Good communication and social skills to collaborate effectively with students, scientists, professors, and industrial researchers.
  • You are a team player, open and honest, providing critical but constructive advice and thinking in a solution‑oriented way.
  • Good level of English (speaking Dutch is a plus).
