Job description

As an Electro-Mechanical Designer, your role is essential in contributing to challenging business cases and technical roadmaps from a mechanical perspective and in a multi-disciplinary context.

In this role, you support our customers in the high-tech industry with developing cutting‑edge equipment, both in the Brainport region and internationally. Together with experts in mechanics, mechatronics, electronics, software, and mathematics, you will bring high‑tech solutions to life, such as advanced lithography machines, compact electron microscopes or medical devices that automate human tissue analysis.

What excites you as an Electro‑mechanical Designer?

From our office in Eindhoven and sometimes at our clients' premises you like to keep yourself busy with:

  • Challenging and creative electromechanical designs. The Inspection & Analysis domain demands higher data throughput, faster results, and greater precision, requiring technically innovative solutions.
  • Product and technology development from concept to operational product, whether it’s a one off design or a serial production project.
  • Close collaboration with the system architect, mechanical & electrical colleagues, project manager, other engineering disciplines, suppliers, and the wider project team to ensure alignment and synergy.
  • Translating specifications into an (electro‑) mechanical concept, including budgeting, conceptual and detailed design, testing needs, and integration requirements—ensuring a successful development cycle and a high quality final product.
  • Contributing to the electromechanical competence within our organization, supporting technical growth and shared success.
This is what you bring to the table
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electro‑mechanics.
  • Experience developing modules for E‑beam, X‑ray, Optical, and/or High‑Voltage systems.
  • Proven track record in designing mechanical components for electronic devices and PCB assemblies within high‑tech systems and/or equipment, with a preference for high‑voltage systems.
  • Practical experience conducting design verification, building prototypes, and performing mechanical testing and validation, including reporting.
  • Minimum of 7 years of electromechanical design experience.
  • Strong multidisciplinary understanding of how mechanical expertise integrates into complex modules.
  • Strong conceptual thinking, design, and simulation capabilities using relevant tools, combined with a pragmatic, hands‑on attitude.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in:
    • Materials (e.g., non‑magnetic)
    • Insulation (conductivity, permittivity)
    • Environmental conditions (vacuum, cleanliness, thermal behaviour, stability)
    • Design for Assembly & Manufacturing (e.g., joining/fixating materials, potting)
  • Extensive background in performing thermal and structural analyses, including full‑module thermal management for electronics and PCB‑based enclosures.
  • Skilled in developing detailed mechanical assemblies such as enclosures, heatsinks, and RF/EMI shielding, with a focus on manufacturability, durability, and cost‑efficient solutions.
  • Highly proficient in 3D CAD tools, delivering complete 2D technical drawings, assembly models, and engineering documentation (specifications, assembly guidelines).
  • Self‑driven, solution‑oriented, and assertive.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Additionally, basic knowledge of design principles in precision mechanics is considered a plus.
What you can expect in return from Sioux
  • Flexible 32‑40 hour working week, with room to work from home.
  • A healthy work‑life balance is very important to us. We have 28 holidays with an option to buy an additional 12 holidays.
  • You will work with passionate colleagues who share your drive for technology and business success.
  • By combining our expertise in software, electronics, mechanics, mechatronics, mathematics and assembly, we make the impossible possible for our customers and get to work on challenging high-tech projects.
  • You get a lot of freedom and responsibility; after all, you know exactly what you are doing.
  • Personal coaching and a training budget of €6000 per year, so that you can continue to develop yourself.
  • We also find it important to have fun together. We organize a lot for our employees, from family festivals and sparkling Christmas parties, to inspiring knowledge sessions for the high-tech community.
  • Our Sioux office is located in a prime location in the heart of the Brainport region. At our main office you can enjoy lunch, sports, making music, and sharing your knowledge with colleagues in one of our Tech Labs.
Important note

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the US Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. 730, et seq.).
