Job summary

Nouvall Engineering Services BV is seeking an E&I Designer to support refinery, petrochemical and industrial projects from our Antwerp office, with field surveys at regional sites. You will assess on-site conditions, compare with drawings, and translate findings into clear E&I drawings and documentation.

The role emphasizes practical on-site work, detailed design, and collaboration with engineers, vendors, and clients. Fluency in English is required; Dutch is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an E&I Designer or Draftsman.
• Experience in refinery, petrochemical or industrial plants.
• Site experience and ability to check installations on site.
• Ability to read E&I drawings and translate findings into drawings.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation or similar tools.
• SPI/AVEVA Instrumentation and 3D tools is a plus.
• Knowledge of cable routing, trays and E&I layouts.
• Good English communication; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out E&I design and drafting work for industrial projects.
• Perform site surveys in substations, instrumentation rooms and process installations.
• Check existing on-site as-built vs drawings.
• Analyse E&I drawings and identify practical routing solutions.
• Prepare/update loop diagrams, cable block diagrams and wiring diagrams.
• Create cable routing layouts, grounding layouts and BOMs.
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation or similar tools.
• Review drawings for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Coordinate with engineers, vendors, remote teams and client.
• Attend site meetings and design reviews.

Job description

You will become part of the E&I project team and support ongoing industrial projects from the office in Antwerp, combined with site surveys at refineries, petrochemical plants and other industrial sites in the region. You will check the existing situation on site, compare this with the available drawings and process the information into clear E&I drawings and documentation.

What will you do as E&I Designer?

You will mainly work on practical E&I design and drafting activities for refinery, petrochemical and other industrial plant environments. This is not an engineering role where you only review from behind a desk. We are looking for someone who can go on site, understand what is there, identify what needs to be changed and translate this into workable drawings.

What are your responsibilities?

• Carry out E&I design and drafting work for industrial projects.
• Perform site surveys in substations, instrumentation rooms, technical buildings and process installations.
• Check existing as-built situations on site and compare them with the available drawings.
• Analyse existing E&I drawings and identify practical routing solutions for cables, trays and instrumentation.
• Prepare and update drawings such as loop diagrams, cable block diagrams, single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable routing layouts, grounding layouts, cable schedules, panel layouts, hook-ups and bills of materials.
• Work with tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation or similar design software.
• Review drawings for accuracy, consistency and compliance with project standards and client requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers, vendors, remote design teams and the client where needed.
• Attend site meetings, design reviews and project meetings when required.

• You have at least 5 years of relevant experience as an E&I Designer or Draftsman.
• You have experience in refinery, petrochemical or other industrial plant environments.
• You have practical site experience and are comfortable checking installations on site.
• You can read and understand existing E&I drawings and translate site findings into clear drawings and documentation.
• You have experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation or similar design tools.
• Experience with SPI / AVEVA Instrumentation and 3D tools such as PDS, SP3D or E3D is a plus.
• You understand cable routing, tray routing, loop diagrams, hook-ups, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, cable schedules and E&I layouts.
• You have knowledge of ATEX and electrical / instrumentation installations in hazardous areas.
• You can work independently and know how to find practical design solutions.
• You have good English communication skills. Dutch is a plus.
