Job summary

Job description

Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity seeks a relationship-focused professional to strengthen donor engagement and grow annual giving. The Donor Relations Manager plays a key role in advancing the mission and fundraising success of Lakeshore Habitat. Every member of our team is expected to uphold the core values that guide our work:

Position Summary

The Donor Relations Manager builds and strengthens donor relationships through annual giving, stewardship, donor engagement, events, and effective CRM management. This position plays a key role in donor retention, fundraising growth, and creating meaningful experiences for supporters of Lakeshore Habitat.

Primary Duties
Annual Giving & Donor Programs
  • Cultivate, manage, and steward relationships with annual donors.
  • Oversee the recurring giving program and donor retention initiatives.
  • Coordinate and execute peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns.
  • Assist with event sponsorship efforts.
  • Monitor donor retention and giving trends, suggesting strategies to strengthen engagement and retention.
Donor Relations & Stewardship
  • Oversee gift processing and maintain accurate donor records.
  • Prepare timely gift acknowledgments and tax receipts.
  • Execute donor stewardship plan, including acknowledgments, impact reports, and personalized touchpoints.
  • Lead first-time donor follow-up and LYBUNT/SYBUNT re-engagement efforts.
  • Track sponsorships and ensure fulfillment of sponsor benefits.
  • Identify new donor opportunities and conduct prospect research.
  • Support donor pipeline development and moves management to cultivate future major donors.
Data & Systems Management
  • Manage Bloomerang CRM, ensuring donor records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Perform routine data cleanup, deduplication, and quality assurance.
  • Generate reports, donor lists, and dashboards to support fundraising, stewardship, marketing, and leadership.
Events & Community Engagement
  • Manage Development Team event registration, guest lists, donor communications, and assist with event planning to ensure a positive experience for donors, sponsors, and guests.
  • Plan and manage donor engagement events, including the Corporate Partner Cocktail Hour.
  • Coordinate third-party fundraising events and community outreach opportunities.
  • Support the Faith Community Ambassador program in partnership with Volunteer Services.

Perform other duties as determined by the Senior Director of Development.

Qualifications
  • Two to three years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, sales, account management, or a related relationship-focused field.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred but not required; experience in philanthropy, higher education, healthcare, or other mission-driven organizations is welcomed.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required; relevant experience will be considered.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to build lasting relationships.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with CRM software; Bloomerang or a similar platform preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, adaptable, and able to exercise sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and move throughout the office as needed.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other standard office equipment and perform routine tasks requiring the use of hands and arms.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, donors, stakeholders, and community partners, both in person and through other forms of communication.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend information, and use sound reasoning, analytical skills, and judgment in carrying out job responsibilities.
  • Ability to occasionally move objects up to 20 pounds, and occasionally climb stairs, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach above shoulders.
  • Ability to see and hear sufficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform essential job duties, including reviewing information, communicating with others, and working safely in office and occasional construction-site environments.
  • Primarily works in a typical office environment, with occasional time spent at construction sites, community events, or other off-site locations.
  • The noise level is generally moderate but may be higher when working at construction sites or events.
  • Occasional extended or nontraditional work hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on organizational and event needs.
