Qualifications

Database Automation Engineer

What does a Database Automation Engineer at Coolblue do?

Together with the team, you will support and build out our cloud infrastructure. You believe in automating the cloud via Infrastructure as Code (IaC) as well as custom automation. Your automation efforts and knowledge of deployment pipelines will ensure our developers can deploy applications smoothly and reliably. Responsibilities include:

• Writing serverless applications in Python that create daily backups to S3.
• Optimizing problematic SQL statements in collaboration with developers.
• Setting up and configuring auditing in Oracle databases.
• Assisting developers in troubleshooting backend system bugs.
• Reporting auditing settings to auditors for Oracle databases.
• Planning major version upgrades for Aurora databases with development teams.
• Automating continuous delivery pipelines using Python and writing unit tests.
• Contributing innovative solutions to Coolblue's IT infrastructure in an agile environment.

Ideal candidate characteristics:

• Problem-solving mindset.
• Experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS (Solutions Architect Associate certification is a plus).
• Understanding that all development issues are important, with awareness of priority levels.
• Development experience in Python.
• Passion for automation from bootstrap to backup.
• Experience with observability tools like DataDog.
• Knowledge of Oracle 19c, Oracle GoldenGate, and Oracle Database Certification is advantageous.
• Familiarity with query optimization, Oracle RDS architecture, and Oracle challenges on AWS.
• Knowledge of AWS Aurora or other RDS databases is a bonus.
