Job Title: Data Scientist II - Finance Payments

About the Team

The successful candidate will join the Data Science & Analytics team within the Finance Payments Accounting organization. In this role, the Data Scientist II will own and deliver end-to-end data science solutions supporting Payments and Accounting. They will partner closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex finance and accounting problems into analytical and modelling approaches, delivering actionable insights and data-driven solutions. The role will involve applying statistical and predictive analytics, as well as emerging GenAI techniques, to address business problems across Payments and Accounting. The Data Scientist II will also explore and apply GenAI capabilities to enhance the analysis and interpretation of Accounting data and develop intelligent, scalable solutions that improve decision-making and business processes.

Role Description

Data Scientist II takes full ownership of the design and delivery of data science solutions, from ideation to implementation. They work independently on tasks like data consumption, preparation, and the translation of business problems into data stories. This role involves applying suitable statistical data analysis and modeling methods to solve complex business problems. Data Scientist II works within the scope of their team, and occasionally across partner teams, to inform business decisions. They independently identify and manage stakeholders, effectively communicating complex analysis results. As experienced members of the team, they provide guidance to junior colleagues, act as force multipliers, and contribute significantly to their community. They stay updated about the larger data ecosystem and the goals of their track and business unit, ensuring the quality of their work through peer review. They play a key role in influencing business decisions within their specific area.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Own the design and delivery of end-to-end Data Science and Analytics solutions for Finance, Payments and Accounting, from ideation through implementation.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders, product and data platform teams to understand complex Accounting and Finance problems, translate them into data-driven solutions, and deliver measurable business value.
  • Lead the identification, development and implementation of GenAI solutions and intelligent agents to enhance Accounting processes, analytics, insights and decision-making.
  • Apply statistical, predictive and other Data Science and Analytics techniques to solve complex business problems and generate actionable insights.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage GenAI to elevate existing Data Science and Analytics capabilities, improve efficiency, and enable new ways of working within the Accounting function.
  • Work collaboratively with business, Data Science and Data Engineering stakeholders to ensure solutions are scalable, reliable and fit for production.
  • Responsible for designing and interpreting quantitative experiments, where appropriate, to objectively guide business decision-making.
  • Communicate complex analytical and GenAI concepts and outcomes clearly to business stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Act as a force multiplier for the team by sharing Data Science, Analytics and GenAI expertise and supporting the development of junior colleagues.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience applying GenAI methods and building production-scale agents to develop intelligent analytics and data-driven solutions for complex business problems; domain experience in finance or fintech is preferred.
  • Proven experience applying Data Science to complex business problems and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of experimental design, A/B testing, statistical inference and quantitative decision-making.
  • Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python or R, with experience preparing and modelling large datasets.
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms and workflows such as Snowflake, Spark, dbt, ETL and data-quality practices.
  • Strong stakeholder management, data visualization and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate insights and influence business decisions.
  • Experience in Finance, Fintech or Payments is desirable.
