Job summary

Damen RD&I in Gorinchem offers an internship on the Smart Maintenance project, focusing on anomaly detection for vessel equipment. You will work with sensor data to detect deviations from healthy operation and contribute to an existing data pipeline.

The role supports a dedicated research topic chosen with the team and can lead to a thesis or publication. Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor or Master in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related engineering fields,

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor or Master in a technical field (data science, engineering).
Background combining data science with mechanical/electrical engineering is preferred.
Experience with statistics, Python, and ML (LSTMs) or time-series analysis is desirable.
Interest in predictive maintenance, sensor data, or marine systems is beneficial.
Comfort working with real-world, messy data and fluent English communication.

Responsibilities

Support the development and improvement of ML-based anomaly detection models for vessel equipment.
Preprocess and analyze sensor/time-series data from onboard systems.
Run experiments in Python, evaluating model performance against real or simulated data.
Collaborate with Data Scientists, maintenance engineers, and operations stakeholders.
Document results and present findings to the team regularly.
