Job summary

Sia Partners Amsterdam is seeking a Data Engineer Consultant to join a growing data team and work on client projects and Sia AI solutions with the French Data Engineering team.

You will handle cloud services (GCP/AWS/Azure), containerisation with Docker/Kubernetes, and develop Python-based tooling and ETL workflows to support ML initiatives.

Qualifications

• You hold a Master’s Degree with a strong quantitative component.
• You have 1–3 years of relevant experience in Data, DevOps, Cloud, or Software Engineering.
• You have a good level in Python and a solid foundation in other languages.
• You are familiar with at least one SQL DBMS, ideally PostgreSQL, and NoSQL such as MongoDB.
• You know cloud services (GCP, AWS, or Azure) or are eager to learn.
• You are comfortable with Docker, CI/CD, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Work with cloud services on GCP, AWS and Azure including architecture and IaC.
• Use Docker and Kubernetes for containerisation and orchestration of DS workloads.
• Develop server-side tools in Python, including bulk data processing and REST APIs.
• Manage CI/CD for integration and deployment of applications at client sites.
• Develop ETL scripts in Big Data environments.
• Implement infrastructure to support ML training and serving.

As a Data Engineer Consultant, you will work on various client projects as well as on building Sia AI solutions together with the French Data Engineering team.

What you will do

• Work with cloud services on GCP, AWS and Azure, including architecture choices, use of storage and compute services, cost monitoring and optimisation, role management, and Infrastructure as Code
• Use Docker and Kubernetes for containerisation and orchestration of applications, and manage Kubernetes clusters adapted to Data Science workloads
• Develop server-side tools in Python, including bulk data processing, REST API servers, and authentication
• Manage CI/CD for the integration and ongoing deployment of applications and internal platforms, and support the deployment of Data Science projects at client sites
• Develop ETL scripts in Big Data environments
• Implement infrastructures and services adapted to Machine Learning, including technology watch and solutions that support Data Scientists in training and serving ML models

Qualifications

• You hold a Master’s Degree with a strong quantitative component such as Econometrics, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Quantitative Finance
• You have 1–3 years of relevant experience in Data, DevOps, Cloud, or Software Engineering
• You have a good level in Python and a solid foundation in other languages
• You are familiar with at least one SQL DBMS, ideally PostgreSQL, and ideally NoSQL, preferably MongoDB
• You are already familiar with at least one cloud services platform such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, or you have a strong appetite to learn more about these topics
• You are comfortable using Docker, automating CI/CD pipelines, and are motivated to build competence in Kubernetes if you do not yet have experience with it
• You can work in a DevOps culture, taking responsibility for the code lifecycle from development to deployment and maintenance of applications; mastery of the Gitlab-CE ecosystem is a plus
• You are familiar with Infrastructure as Code concepts and tools, ideally Terraform
• You are sensitive to security issues and have experience implementing application protection solutions such as certificate management, HTTPS security, OAuth2 authentication, and credential management
• You have a strong interest in data and AI-related topics, the ability to quickly build expertise in these areas, and enthusiasm for helping clients seize the opportunities they offer
• You have excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Excellent English and Dutch verbal and written skills are required
