Job summary

Apply Recruitment is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and operation of production-grade Data & AI platforms. You will bridge Data Engineering, MLOps, and Cloud Architecture to deliver reliable, scalable capabilities that transform client data into AI features such as semantic search and suggestions.

The role requires strong Python, SQL, and AWS expertise, with a proven track record of running production AI workloads.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Bridge Data Engineering, MLOps, and Cloud Architecture into reliable, scalable platform capabilities.
• Architect and operate end-to-end pipelines, vector stores, and curated data assets for AI features (semantic search, recommendations, matching).
• Design secure, cost-effective AWS infrastructure using IaC, CI/CD, and automated deployment practices.
• Build workflows for model deployment, monitoring, drift detection, and governance alignment (GDPR, EU AI Act).
• Collaborate with data scientists, DevOps and architects to document decisions and ensure production reliability.

We are looking for a hands-on technical owner to bridge Data Engineering, MLOps, and Cloud Architecture into reliable, scalable product capabilities.

What You'll Do

• Data & AI Platforms: Architect and operate end-to-end pipelines, vector-oriented data stores, and curated data assets to transform complex, real-world client data into reliable AI capabilities (semantic search, recommendations, matching).
• Cloud Infrastructure (AWS): Design and maintain secure, cost-effective, cloud-native infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD, and automated deployment practices.
• MLOps & AI Governance: Build robust workflows for model deployment, monitoring, drift detection, and evaluation, translating governance requirements (GDPR, EU AI Act) into operational platform controls.
• Technical Ownership & Collaboration: Partner with Data Scientists, DevOps, and Architects to establish canonical data models, document architectural decisions, and ensure full production reliability.

What You Bring

Must-Haves:

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience: 5+ years in data engineering, platform engineering, or MLOps, with a proven track record of running production-grade AI/ML workloads.
• Core Tech Stack: Advanced Python, SQL, Docker, AWS, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Data Modeling & Architecture: Hands-on experience optimizing relational, analytical, and vector databases, pipeline orchestration, and lineage tracking.
• Communication: Business-fluent English; strong stakeholder management across technical and non-technical teams.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, MLflow, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Vector Databases/RAG architectures.
• Familiarity with Data Mesh, Data Vault modeling, or Lakehouse frameworks.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001, ISO 42001, or EU AI Act compliance.
• AWS Certifications.
