Job summary

Xsens Technologies B.V. is seeking a hands-on Computer Vision Engineer to advance visual-inertial localization at our Enschede site, with hybrid/remote options.

You will research, prototype, and deploy VIO/SLAM solutions, integrating IMU data with camera inputs, and collaborate across hardware, firmware, and software teams. The ideal candidate has a strong background in computer vision and robotics, with 3+ years of industry or research experience, and proficiency in Python and C++.

Qualifications

• MSc in CS/EE/Robotics or PhD with hands-on system-building.
• Strong multi-view geometry, camera models and physics.
• Hands-on VO or SLAM with open-source frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python and C++.
• Strong math: linear algebra, probability, state estimation.
• Prefer: automotive/robotics industry experience.
• Prefer: IMU signal processing knowledge.
• Prefer: GPU-accelerated computing and real-time optimization.
• Prefer: ROS and OpenCV experience.

Responsibilities

Your role as a Computer Vision Engineer at Xsens

As a Computer Vision Engineer, you will be at the heart of our effort to expand Xsens' positioning and localization capabilities, moving beyond inertial-only solutions toward full visual-inertial systems. You will research, prototype, and deploy algorithms for Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO), SLAM, and 6-DoF pose estimation, bringing together our IMU technologies with camera-based perception capabilities. You will be part of the Technology team and report to the Technology Manager. You will be based in Enschede, the Netherlands, with the possibility of hybrid/remote working.

Key challenges:

• Design and implement state-of-the‑art VIO and SLAM pipelines, combining inertial sensor data with monocular or stereo camera inputs.

• Develop and maintain camera models, calibration routines, and sensor synchronization pipelines across multiple hardware configurations.

• Apply optimization techniques and filtering methods to achieve robust and accurate 6-DoF pose estimation.

• Stay current with the computer vision and research landscape and assess the feasibility of integrating new techniques into Xsens products.

• Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams to deliver end‑to‑end perception solutions.

Xsens is looking for a hands‑on Computer Vision Engineer who combines strong theoretical foundations with a proven ability to build and ship working systems.

Required

• MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant industry or research experience; or a PhD with demonstrated hands‑on system‑building experience.

• Solid understanding of multi‑view geometry and camera and lens models and physics

• Hands‑on experience with VO or SLAM systems, and familiarity with open source frameworks.

• Proficiency in Python / C++.

• Strong mathematical background in linear algebra, probability theory, and state estimation.

Preferred

• A few years of experience in automotive and/or robotics industry

• Experience with IMU signal processing and inertial sensor models.

• Awareness of GPU‑accelerated computing and experience in optimizing algorithms for real‑time performance

• Knowledge of deep learning‑based perception methods.

• Experience with ROS, OpenCV, and standard robotics tooling.
