Job description

Shape the Future of Compliance in a Global Industrial Leader

Are you an experienced compliance professional who combines legal expertise with a pragmatic, business-oriented mindset? Do you enjoy building networks, influencing stakeholders across cultures, and translating complex regulations into practical business solutions? If so, this is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the future development of compliance within the global Rothe Erde organization.

thyssenkrupp Rothe Erde is part of the thyssenkrupp Group belonging to the Segment Decarbon Technologies, a leading international industrial and technology organization with more than 93,000 employees worldwide. Rothe Erde is the global market leader in large-diameter bearings and seamless rolled rings, serving industries such as wind energy, mining, aerospace, construction, and industrial manufacturing. More than 6,000 employees across multiple continents contribute to the company’s success every day. As part of an ongoing transformation within the group, Rothe Erde is establishing its own dedicated Compliance Officer position at Business Unit level. This newly created role offers the opportunity to build, shape, and further professionalize compliance processes and culture across a truly international organization.

The Opportunity

This is far more than a traditional compliance role. You will become the central compliance expert for Rothe Erde’s international operations, supporting entities across Europe, Asia, North and South America. Reporting directly to the BU CFO, you will operate within the compliance function of the Segment independently while working closely with senior leadership, Legal, HR, Compliance Managers, external auditors, and local management teams worldwide.

The organization is looking for a professional who can bridge the gap between governance and business operations. Someone who not only understands regulations and compliance frameworks but also knows how to bring them to life within a dynamic industrial environment. You will help create a culture where compliance is not viewed as an administrative burden but as an integral part of daily decision-making and responsible business conduct.

As Compliance Officer, you will oversee and further develop the compliance framework for Rothe Erde worldwide. Your responsibilities include:

  • Advising management, business leaders, and employees on compliance-related matters, including antitrust law, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, trade compliance, foreign trade regulations, and data protection.
  • Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the global compliance program within the Rothe Erde Business Unit in close collaboration with the compliance function of the Segment.
  • Monitoring regulatory developments and translating them into practical policies, procedures, and business guidance.
  • Coordinating compliance activities across a global network of Compliance Managers and Compliance Implementation Managers.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor for management regarding compliance risks, business transactions, partnerships, M&A activities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Supporting investigations, whistleblowing processes, and compliance risk assessments.
  • Coordinating external advisors, legal specialists, and auditors where required.
  • Preparing compliance reports and management updates.
  • Developing targeted awareness programs and training initiatives based on emerging compliance risks and lessons learned throughout the organization.
  • Ensuring that compliance remains practical, effective, and embedded within business processes.
A Role with Global Exposure

Although based in Eindhoven, your impact will be international. You will support a network of operations across Europe, Brazil, China, and other international locations. While extensive travel is not expected, occasional international travel may be required to address specific compliance topics, support investigations, conduct workshops, or strengthen compliance awareness within local teams.

The role offers significant visibility throughout the organization and regular interaction with:

  • Business Unit Management
  • Country CEOs and CFOs
  • Legal leadership
  • HR leadership
  • Compliance Managers worldwide
  • External auditors and advisors
  • Group-level compliance stakeholders
What Makes This Opportunity Unique?
  • Build Something New
  • This is not a maintenance role. The organization is transitioning from a centrally supported compliance structure toward a more autonomous Business Unit model. As a result, you will have the opportunity to shape future compliance processes, define best practices, and help determine how compliance should operate within Rothe Erde moving forward.
  • The ideal candidate combines the professionalism of a large international corporation with the entrepreneurial mindset of someone who enjoys creating solutions. Rather than simply following existing procedures, you will be encouraged to challenge, improve, and optimize processes while ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Strategic Influence
  • You will work directly with senior leadership and play a key role in safeguarding the integrity and reputation of a global industrial organization during an important period of transformation.
What Success Looks Like

During your first 12 months, you will:

  • Gain a deep understanding of the thyssenkrupp compliance framework and governance structure.
  • Build strong relationships with compliance stakeholders across the global organization.
  • Identify opportunities to further strengthen and streamline compliance processes.
  • Establish a clear roadmap for future compliance governance within Rothe Erde.
  • Develop practical solutions for emerging compliance challenges resulting from the ongoing organizational transformation.
  • Become the trusted point of contact for compliance-related questions throughout the business.
Your Profile

We are looking for an experienced compliance professional who combines strong legal expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills.

You bring:

  • A completed Law degree.
  • Several years of experience within the field of Compliance, Legal, Risk, Governance, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of antitrust law, anti-corruption regulations, anti-money laundering, foreign trade compliance, and corporate governance.
  • Experience within an international organization, multinational corporation, consultancy, or law firm.
  • The ability to translate complex regulations into practical business solutions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • A proactive, hands‑on, and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • The confidence to operate independently and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • A strong sense of integrity and professional judgement.
  • Business‑fluent English (German is considered a strong advantage, but not a must‑have)
  • Willingness to travel occasionally when required.

Experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, technology, supply chain, or international trade environments is beneficial but not essential. The organization values mindset, adaptability, and problem‑solving capability as highly as sector‑specific experience.

What Rothe Erde Offers
  • A highly visible international position with significant impact.
  • The opportunity to shape and further develop compliance within a global organization.
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision‑making.
  • An international, collaborative, and performance‑driven environment.
  • Flexible working arrangements including hybrid working.
  • Structured onboarding and training, including onboarding activities in Germany.
  • Excellent opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • A culture that values integrity, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
