Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in environmental sciences or related field.
  • At least two years of numerical modelling experience (ROMS, CROCO, NEMO, Delft3D) and particle dispersal modelling (Parcels).
  • Knowledge of coastal and hydrodynamic processes.
  • Proficiency with Python, R or Matlab for scripting and data analysis.
  • GIS proficiency and experience with cloud computing (AWS) and Git.

Responsibilities

  • Implement numerical Lagrangian particle tracking models for coastal plastic dispersion.
  • Source high-resolution ocean circulation data for coastal domains.
  • Design site-specific source scenarios for land and maritime emissions.
  • Guide field campaigns based on modelling results.
  • Refine modelling processes for coastal fate such as beaching and degradation.
  • Create reports for impact monitoring and peer‑reviewed manuscripts.
  • Produce data visualizations to support field scientists and stakeholders.
  • Attend international scientific conferences and contribute to publications.
