Job summary

Mendix, a Siemens company, seeks a strategic Cloud Unit Lead to drive the vision and operations of the Mendix Cloud Unit. You will oversee the multi-cloud strategy, lead cloud engineering and operations teams, and foster cross-functional collaboration across product, design, and program management.

You will manage partnerships with hyperscalers like AWS and Azure, and take end-to-end responsibility for cloud platform reliability and performance within the Siemens ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering product development with leadership experience.
• 5+ years leading cloud operations, DevOps, or SRE with SLA and non-functional requirements.
• Fluent in English; German or Dutch as a secondary language.

Responsibilities

• Lead the product vision and strategy for Mendix multi-cloud offerings.
• Build and develop the Cloud Unit team across engineering, design, product management and program management.
• Drive collaboration with Siemens cloud software ecosystem and partnerships with AWS and Azure.
• Represent Mendix Cloud and Private Cloud solutions to other Siemens units and ensure alignment.
• Partner with marketing and sales for positioning and field enablement of cloud offerings.
• Manage on-call rotations and ensure outages, escalations, and service level performance.

Position Overview

We're seeking a strategic leader to drive the vision and operations of our Cloud Unit. As Cloud Unit Lead, you'll oversee the multi-cloud strategy for Mendix, leading our cloud engineering and operations teams while fostering cross-functional collaboration across product, design, and program management. You'll represent Mendix Cloud capabilities across the broader Siemens ecosystem, manage partnerships with hyperscalers like AWS and Azure, and take end-to-end responsibility for cloud platform reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the product vision and strategy for Mendix Multi-Cloud offerings, defining direction and roadmap
• Build and develop the Cloud Unit team, managing people across engineering, design, product management, and program management functions
• Drive collaboration and integration across the broader Siemens cloud software ecosystem, including strategic partnerships with AWS and Azure
• Represent Mendix Cloud and Private Cloud solutions to other Siemens product units, ensuring alignment and synergy
• Partner with Mendix and Siemens software marketing and sales teams for effective positioning and field enablement of cloud offerings
• Manage on-call rotations and take responsibility for outages, escalations, and service level performance

Qualifications Required

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering product development with demonstrated leadership impact
• 5+ years leading cloud operations, DevOps, or SRE organizations with proven track record meeting service level agreements and non-functional requirements (availability, reliability, performance, resilience)
• Strong understanding of cloud-native software development principles and Infrastructure-as-Code practices
• Fluent in English with German or Dutch as a secondary language
• Familiarity with hyperscaler offerings (AWS, Azure, GCP) and knowledge of the IaaS/PaaS competitive landscape

Preferred

• Foundational knowledge of AI, machine learning, and Generative AI applications in software engineering and cloud operations
