Job summary

KeyGene is seeking a scientific leader for Head of Research Plant Cell Engineering in Wageningen. You will guide a core R&D unit spanning Genome Engineering, Cell, Tissue & Regeneration, and Reproduction Technologies, reporting to the CEO and shaping long‑term research strategy.

You will connect plant biology breakthroughs with IP strategy, licensing and external partnerships, driving innovations from bench to field through cross‑functional leadership.

Qualifications

• PhD in plant sciences focused on developmental or cell biology and molecular biology.
• More than ten years in innovative R&D, business and management with world‑renowned R&D, innovation and IP.
• Thorough knowledge of modern plant breeding, gene editing and the IP landscape.

Responsibilities

• Lead one of KeyGene’s core R&D units (Genome Engineering, Cell, Tissue & Regeneration, Reproduction Technologies).
• Set multiyear research agenda and manage people, budget and resources.
• Shape patent strategy with IP/legal teams and build alliances via KeyNovation ecosystem.
