Job description

Bartender - Café Americain

Step behind the bar at Café Americain; an iconic, Art Deco dining landmark in the heart of Amsterdam’s bustling Leidseplein.

We’re looking for a passionate and professional Bartender to create great drinks and deliver top-tier hospitality to every shift. From signature cocktails to expertly poured beers and barista coffee, you’ll help shape the atmosphere and provide standout experiences to guests from around the world.

Objective of the Role

As a Bartender at Café Americain, you’ll be the face behind the bar – crafting cocktails, pouring wines, brewing coffee, and elevating each guest experience with personality and precision. Whether it’s a relaxed afternoon aperitif or a buzzing Friday night crowd, you’ll serve with style, speed, and confidence.

You’ll keep the bar running smoothly, stocked, and sparkling, while working closely with the service team to ensure seamless, high‑energy operations from morning until late. This fast‑paced, hands‑on role is ideal for bartenders who thrive under pressure and love creating standout service moments.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver Standout Service
  • Prepare and serve a wide range of beverages, from signature cocktails and premium spirits to wines, beers, and specialty coffees, to the highest standard.
  • Welcome guests warmly, provide expert drink recommendations, and engage with charm and professionalism.
Own Your Bar
  • Keep the bar clean, organised, and fully stocked at all times.
  • Monitor inventory, restock efficiently, and minimise waste with smart stock rotation and usage.
Know Your Products
  • Stay up to date with the drink menu, seasonal specials, and pairings – we’ll support you with training, but curiosity is key.
  • Share stories behind our signature serves to elevate the guest experience.
Work as One Team
  • Communicate clearly with floor staff and kitchen to ensure smooth, coordinated service.
  • Support and guide team members or interns when needed.
Stay Sharp, Stay Safe
  • Follow hygiene, safety, and alcohol service guidelines at all times.
  • Proactively manage guest concerns or complaints using Dalata service standards and always aim to turn things around positively.
What We’re Looking For
  • At least 2 years of bartending experience in a dynamic hospitality environment.
  • Solid knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wines, beers, and barista‑style coffee, or a strong eagerness to learn.
  • MBO Level 2-3 working and thinking level (or equivalent).
  • Comfortable using POS systems (preferably Micros).
  • Fluent in English (bonus points for Dutch or other languages).
  • Creative, energetic, and calm under pressure.
  • A team player who communicates clearly and thrives in busy environments.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Awareness of allergen legislation and commitment to responsible alcohol service.
What You’ll Get From Us
A Culture That Cares
  • A warm, people‑first team where you’re valued and supported.
  • Regular staff events, recognition programmes, and a workplace that feels like home.
Real Career Progression
  • Access to Dalata Academy for learning, growth, and career development.
  • Opportunities to grow across hotels in Ireland, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Daily Perks
  • Fresh meals during your shift.
  • Uniform provided.
  • 50% off food & drinks in all Dalata hotels.
  • €60 employee room rate across all Dalata‑owned properties.
  • 30% Friends & Family discount on stays.
Extra Benefits
  • One extra annual leave day for every year you work (up to 5 additional days).
  • Travel allowance for commutes over 10km.
  • Free overnight stay in the hotel after your probation period.
  • Access to the Employee Assistance Programme.
