Job summary

TOPdesk is seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer in Delft, Netherlands, to lead cloud strategy and architecture for a large-scale SaaS platform. You will guide cross-team decisions, mentor engineers, and push AI-native operational practices while ensuring high reliability and performance in a hybrid work setup.

You will collaborate with the Director of Cloud & Developer Operations to drive transformations, define standards, and shape the future of TOPdesk’s cloud platform, with a focus on

Qualifications

• At least 7 years as a cloud engineer with Azure.
• Hands-on technical leader who drives major cloud transformations.
• At least 3 years with Terraform via CI/CD.
• Experience with CAF and Well-Architected Framework (WAF).
• Experience setting up SQL databases for scalability.
• Proactive, takes initiative, and can lead; collaborates across cloud and non-cloud teams.
• Strong communicator and team player; comfortable with stand-by shifts (evenings/weekends).

Responsibilities

• Set cloud strategy and architecture across the platform.
• Define reference architectures and reusable patterns in partnership with the Chief Architect.
• Drive end-to-end cloud transformation and modernization initiatives.
• Lead AI-native operations, including agents and bounded automation.
• Mentor engineers and champion cross-team collaboration.
• Publish standards and ensure coherent direction across teams.
• Partner with stakeholders to align cloud solutions with business goals.
