Job summary

SGI in Eindhoven is seeking an experienced HIL Test Engineer to join an automotive engineering project. You will lead manual and automated testing of ECUs, ensuring software and hardware meet requirements and quality standards.

You will collaborate with embedded software, electronics and systems teams to develop, execute and improve testing processes, maintain documentation and support root-cause analysis.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of automotive testing or HIL validation experience.
• Hands-on HIL testing in real environments with ECU devices.
• Experience with manual and automated ECU testing and scripting.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced HIL Test Engineer to join an automotive engineering project in Eindhoven.

You will be responsible for the manual and automated testing of Electronic Control Units (ECUs), ensuring software and hardware systems meet functional, performance and quality requirements.

The role involves working closely with embedded software, electronics and systems engineering teams to develop, execute and improve testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, execute and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test cases.
• Perform manual and automated testing of automotive ECUs.
• Design and improve test automation scripts and frameworks.
• Analyse test results, identify defects and support root-cause investigations.
• Validate ECU functionality against technical requirements.
• Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to resolve issues.
• Maintain test documentation, reports and traceability.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive testing, embedded systems testing or HIL validation.
• Strong hands-on experience with HIL testing environments.
• Experience performing manual and automated ECU testing.
• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN or UDS.
• Experience with test automation and scripting, ideally Python.
• Familiarity with automotive testing tools such as Vector CANoe, CANalyzer or dSPACE is advantageous.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Good communication skills in English.
