Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking an Automation Specialist for our QC laboratories in Leiden. You will support data integrity, automate computerized systems, and drive LEAN improvements while ensuring GMP compliance.

You will investigate quality records, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions in collaboration with global teams. Strong programming and laboratory automation experience are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Computer Science
• Knowledge of GMP regulations and FDA/EMA guidelines
• At least two years in pharma with GMP and automation responsibilities
• Hands-on software development and programming experience; lab exposure beneficial
• Experience with computerized system validation in a GxP environment
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, planning and prioritization skills
• Proven ability to build relationships at all levels
• Excellent written and spoken English; Dutch desirable
• Proactive and able to work independently, prepare protocols, reports, and procedures

Responsibilities

• Lead technical implementation of new laboratory systems with cross‑functional teams
• Create and maintain installation and maintenance procedures
• Provide timely support and troubleshoot computerized systems
• Ensure equipment implementations meet 21 CFR Part 11 requirements
• Contribute to lab systems initiatives with global teams
• Support day‑to‑day technical challenges faced by the team
• Lead or support investigations into non‑conformances involving systems and materials
• Coordinate corrective and preventive actions and effectiveness checks
• Act as SME in inspections when required
