Job summary

Agoda is seeking a business-minded Legal Associate Director to support its expanding travel business, with emphasis on flights, travel packages, and related products. • Law degree (JD) and 10+ years post-qualification experience in private practice, in-house, or both.
• Strong product/regulatory advisory background and practical approach to balancing risk with business needs.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing small–medium sized teams.
• High level of commercial awareness and business acumen.
• Experience in travel, aviation, packages, e-commerce, or digital consumer businesses and cross-border issues.

Responsibilities

• Advise on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters related to Agoda’s travel business, with focus on flights and travel products.
• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements for travel content, technology licensing, services, and supplier arrangements.
• Provide strategic guidance on new travel products and market deployments.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify cross-functional risks and provide practical legal solutions across jurisdictions.
• Support disputes, complaints, and regulatory inquiries as required.
• Contribute to templates, guidance materials, and internal procedures as the product evolves.
• Engage with senior stakeholders to influence risk decisions and product development strategies.
• Lead, manage, and develop a team of senior lawyers with clear objectives and performance oversight.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a business-minded Legal Associate Director to support Agoda’s expanding travel business, with a particular focus on flights, travel packages, and related travel products. This role oversees and directly contributes to a mix of product development advisory, consumer-facing and cross-border regulatory advice and commercial contracting support. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders including the Product, Commercial, and Finance teams to support product launches, expand supplier network, manage complex legal risk, and help the business move forward in a practical way.

Key responsibilities:

• Advise on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters relating to Agoda’s travel business, with a particular focus on flights, activities, travel packages, and adjacent travel products.
• Ensure delivery and occasionally draft, review, and negotiate agreements relating to travel-related content, technology licensing and services, and commercial supplier arrangements.
• Ensure delivery and provide strategic guidance on new travel products and new product features, including deployment in new markets.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to identify cross-functional risks (including tax, finance, other legal subject matter experts) and provide practical legal solutions, drive alignment across teams and jurisdictions, and elevate issues where appropriate. Internal
• Provide legal support in disputes, complaints, and consumer protection or regulatory matters including regulatory inquiries, where required.
• Contribute to templates, guidance materials, and internal procedures as the business and product offering continue to evolve.
• Actively engage with senior stakeholders in the company and influence key risk decisions as well as commercial and product development strategies.
• Lead, manage and develop a team of senior lawyers - setting clear objectives, overseeing performance and professional development, and ensuring the team's work is strategically prioritised and aligned with the business's most significant product, commercial and regulatory needs.

The successful applicant will have:

• A Law Degree (JD) with 10+ years of post-qualification experience in private practice, in-house, or a combination of both
• Experience in a multinational corporation with a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Demonstrable ability to work autonomously with proven management and leadership experience of small-medium sized teams.
• High level of commercial awareness and business acumen.
• Strong product/regulatory advisory background and a practical approach to balancing legal risk with business needs, including for cross-border legal and regulatory issues
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, experience in travel, aviation, packages, e-commerce, marketplaces, or other digital consumer businesses
