Job summary

TK Maxx in Amsterdam is looking for an Assistant Store Manager to support the store manager and lead the team in daily operations. You will drive sales, ensure a high standard of customer service, and contribute to a welcoming shopping environment.

You will handle HR topics such as recruitment, performance, absenteeism and advancement, while helping achieve KPIs and budgets. The role offers a fixed-hours contract (32–38 per week) with training and development opportunities across the network.

Due to the size of the department store, the position of Assistant store Manager is perfect for anyone with experience as a store manager in conventional retail. Make no mistake, you will be given responsibility and autonomy from the start while supporting the store manager and replacing him where necessary. You can apply your expertise and leadership from day one.

You will do best in this role if you:

• Have (been) ultimately responsible for a commercial location with a turnover of more than 2 million EURO
• Have experience with the various personnel management tasks
• Have P&L expertise with commercial insight
• Ideally have a background in a fast-paced, commercial environment and a creative approach to visual merchandising
• Have an open and approachable management style where you treat everyone at every level with respect
• Have the flexibility to switch locations occasionally to gain more experience.

What will you do with us?

• Together with the store manager, you will be responsible for achieving KPIs and monitoring budgets.
• Having all kinds of conversations about HR topics such as recruitment and selection, performance, absenteeism, advancement
• You are partly responsible for sales, stock results, staff planning and personnel policy.
• Creating daily rosters and assigning tasks so that everyone is fully effectively deployed and involved.
• Being the role model for your team: You motivate, inspire and develop your team leaders and shop employees by providing direct feedback, support and recognition
• You guard the TK Maxx model. With your commercial insight, creativity and product knowledge, the department store always looks presentable.
