The Photonic Integration group at Eindhoven University of Technology seeks an Assistant/Associate Professor in Physics and engineering of reliability in PICs. The role combines experimental and modeling work to understand failure mechanisms and advance robust photonic technologies.

Embedded in the Department of Electrical Engineering, you will develop an internationally recognized research program, collaborate across disciplines, teach BSc/MSc courses, supervise PhD students, and secure

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science or related field.
• Expertise in reliability physics and degradation of photonic devices.
• Experience with wafer-scale and heterogeneous integration is a plus.
• Ability to translate reliability insights into design improvements.

Responsabilités

• Develop internationally recognized research on the reliability of PICs and integrated light sources, combining experimental and modeling approaches.
• Establish new research directions in failure and reliability mechanisms in integrated photonics, with focus on wafer-scale and heterogeneous integration.
• Collaborate across disciplines, notably the broader semicon field, to explore common physics and degradation mechanisms.
• Contribute to TU/e’s educational mission by teaching and developing BSc/MSc courses, supervising PhD students and postdocs.
• Acquire funding from national and European programs (Dutch, Horizon Europe, ERC) and build collaborations with industry.
