Job Summary

The Anatomical Laboratory Surgical Technician / Pathology Assistant supports the daily operations of our advanced anatomy and surgical laboratories. The role involves preparing and dissecting anatomical specimens, assisting during surgical training sessions, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and ethical standards. This position is ideal for candidates with prior experience in surgical assistance, anatomical pathology, or cadaveric dissection, who are passionate about advancing hands‑on medical education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Laboratory Maintenance: Oversee the cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the anatomy laboratory, including the maintenance of equipment and instruments.
  • Specimen Preparation: Assist in the preparation and preservation of anatomical specimens for educational and research purposes, ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Implement and monitor compliance with health and safety protocols, including the proper disposal of biohazard materials and adherence to infection control procedures.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of laboratory supplies and equipment, manage inventory levels, and coordinate the procurement of necessary materials.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain detailed records of laboratory activities, including specimen logs, maintenance schedules, and compliance documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on advancements in anatomical laboratory practices and contribute to the development and implementation of improved procedures and protocols.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Education: Degree or diploma in Surgical Technology, Anatomical Pathology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline.

Experience: Demonstrated experience in surgical assistance, anatomical dissection, or pathology laboratory work is highly desirable.

Technical Skills: Familiarity with surgical instrumentation, anatomical preparation, and laboratory management software.

Attention to Detail: Precision and accuracy in specimen handling, labeling, and documentation.

Communication: Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written). Dutch proficiency is an asset.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and safely handle specimens and lab materials.
