Job summary

Metyis is seeking an AI Data Governance Lead with 5-8 years of experience to join our Data and Analytics team in Amsterdam. You will shape governance strategy, define ownership, and drive adoption across business, data, AI and IT stakeholders.

You will lead workshops, translate complex governance challenges into actionable roadmaps, and embed governance into day-to-day data initiatives, ensuring data quality, privacy and trustworthy AI in enterprise environments.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality or related fields, with AI governance exposure valued.
• Experience initiating a data/governance effort from scratch with sponsorship & stakeholder buy-in.
• Strong understanding of data ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage and governance processes.
• Knowledge of how data quality, governance, privacy and security affect AI solutions.
• Awareness of AI/ML concepts and lifecycle considerations; able to engage with AI/Data/IT teams.

Responsibilities

• Help clients turn Data and AI Governance from concept into daily practice, focusing on high-value areas.
• Identify priority stakeholders, business pain points and governance gaps with cross-functional teams.
• Define governance ownership and accountability (Data Owners/Stewards/Custodians) and support adoption.
• Facilitate workshops to align ownership, definitions and governance requirements.
• Translate governance challenges into actionable implementation roadmaps.
• Support embedding governance into day-to-day data practices (data quality, metadata, lineage, access, privacy).
• Collaborate with AI, Data, Architecture, Privacy and Security teams to build trusted data foundations.
• Contribute to governance forums to document key decisions, risks and responsibilities.
• Turn successful approaches into reusable templates, playbooks and accelerators.
