Job summary

Destinus is seeking a Stress Engineer to shape the future of flight through advanced structural and mechanical analyses of aerospace systems. You will drive sizing, TE/thermal analyses, and FEM work, collaborating across engineering disciplines to enable subsonic to hypersonic flight.

The role calls for 5–10 years in aerospace stress engineering, experience in turbomachinery, and strong Matlab skills. English is required; additional European languages are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
• 5–10 years of experience as an aerospace stress engineer.
• Experience in turbomachinery sector.
• FEM: model building to analysis, post-processing, and debugging.
• Experience with stress hand calculations/analytical methods.
• Experience with metallic and composite lightweight aerospace structures.
• Proficiency in Matlab.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• English required; Dutch/Spanish/French/German a plus.
• Resilience and ability to handle stress in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural and structural/thermal analyses and sizing of aerospace structures, components, and systems.
• Guide structural optimization and design improvements.
• Deliver detailed FEM models used for analysis, from GFEM to detailed analysis.
• Define sizing loads and load cases required for scoping detailed analysis.
• Deliver preliminary sizing calculations, hand calculations, and simplified estimates to inform the design.
• Support ground and flight tests.
• Deliver detailed technical reports and presentations.
• Assist in the development of manufacturing, integration, and test processes and procedures.
• Support the definition and execution of the qualification and certification process.
