Job summary

TNO is seeking an Aerospace Propulsion Engineer to join the Aerospace Propulsion team within the Department of Energetic Systems. The role involves design and analysis of propulsion components, from concept to prototype and performance evaluation, in a multidisciplinary environment.

You will develop test plans, participate in experiments at the Propulsion Test Facility, and present findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • PhD or MSc in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, (applied) physics, or related field.
  • Strong interest in aerospace and defence; knowledge of aero-thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, combustion and aerospace propulsion.
  • Experience with MATLAB and/or Python; any exposure to propulsion systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyse propulsion components and technologies (combustion chambers, air intakes, propellant and fuel formulations).
  • Develop test plans and participate in tests at TNO’s Propulsion Test Facility, including data acquisition and post-test analyses.
  • Present findings to stakeholders and contribute to research publications.
